New player to lol

Hi I recently picked up lol, got kinda bored from dota2 so I wanted to try something new.

Is there anyone who knows how mmr system work for unranked accounts ? Do I have mmr on my unranked account atm (lvl 12 currently). And will matches I'm playing also be taken into consideration when I'm going to play the 10 calibrating matches when I hit lvl 30 ?

 

Annie is actually one of the better starters. I'd say have fun with the game, I've had the most fun with league when I just started out whilst playing with friends.

Actually getting better, the more you play the more experienced you'll become with it, I also suggest watching twitch.

On annie id suggest going nomicon, ludens, deathcap,void staff and zhonyas (get ur boots somewhere in there). I also think annie is a good starter because she can also go support so u could branch off into supporting if u wanted too.

 

Thanks guys. Supporting is just not me (is the same in dota, i can't withstand it). Just curious about how high I can end up in the league ladder, but seems like theres a long road untill then as Im only lvl 7 atm

 

It takes awhile to get to 30 but once u get to 30 thats where the real fun starts. And i also too hate supporting, i like to do damage.

 

I climbed to diamond just supporting, don't feel like your rank will be limited by your role. For now just try to explore different champions and roles and find which one you like best, don't worry about optimization or anything yet, it's too early for that

 

My biggest tip is...

enjoy the game. The game gets really dull when you're trying to master builds/champions. When you're just learning the skills of champions, that is so fun.

 

I'm enjoying annie mid really much atm I've learn't what items to buy on her and etc. Only problem is I don't know all champions so I suddenly die from nothing lol. Will take some time before I learn what all champs do I guess

 

check out Annie Bot on twitch, you can learn a lot of things from him (engages, build paths, CS'ing, etc)

 

If you ever need any tips on twitch, I'm D3 with a 75%+ winrate over 100 games with him.

if you want to get to level 30 quick buy the 2x exp on wins and 2x exp on games so you get 4x exp, and itll fly by

What I've experienced so far is that I either win 3-4 matches in a row or lose 3-4 matches in a row I never like win 1 and lose the next one.

 

Q up on the minions for last hitting wait until ur powerspikes and then own the midlaner

 

the best advice i can give you is switch to the euw server unless you are russian or polish : )

 

Annie is a great champion to start off with, and really does teach you a lot of the game. As Bawsy said, you can last hit minions with your Q extremely easily, as if it kills something the cooldown is reset to 2 seconds and mana is restored.

Annie is a good champion to main since you can take her down bot as a very dominating support, and build her a bit less glass cannon and go top. I didn't think long-term when I started playing league, so I would just support and play what I saw was "fotm" online. It took me a while before I started to play to get better, but as long as you're enjoying the game continue what you're doing!

 

I'm the opposite of your position, I played LoL from Dec 2009 to about Dec 2013 before I quit, and now i'm a dota fanatic.

LoL as im sure you'll find is a LOT more forgiving, death timers are shorter, games go on quicker and the option to give up is present at 15 minutes, which means people lose hope a lot easier. I've heard theres even an 'open mid' strat where if a team feels they're too hard behind they'll just sit at base and let the enemies push down mid, reasons like that are why im glad Dota has no surrender option, theres always the possibility to come back.

In league the early stages are a lot more forgiving. In dota if you die a couple times in lane its usually no big deal. In league, if you die mid or top once, you have usually lost your lane and as long as no other players gank, that player will always have the advantage over you. Dying is a lot more punishable in league than dota, try not to die at all in the early stages.

Also my favourite piece of advice: In league, your towers protect you. In dota, you protect your towers.
