Jack in the Box​

Taste: Great!
Buttered up and crispy, this sandwich was a clear winner from the get-go, albeit a very disappointing patty size. I got sriracha sauce and basic pickles, and there was no spice from the chicken patty or the sauce itself. I found the bun to taste very nice, and overall it was really good.

Whataburger

Taste: Awful!!!
Dry and unappealing, this sandwich was a lot like your gf after your NRE wears off in less than a year. I opted for the Whatasauce to knock a few birds with one stone. It's Chick-Fil-A sauce. No spice, no taste, all dry, not even buttery. Get outta here with this.

Taste: Good AND Bad.

Easily the spiciest sandwich off-the-bat, it also had a lot of sauce that probably contributed to that. It had a weird level of crunch to it. I don't know how to explain the crunch, but it's... a bit upsetting. A chewy crunch. This sandwich looks big, but the top half of it is nothing but breading, which was extremely chewy. and really lowered the rating. If you get a filled patty, this would easily be good.

Chick-Fil-A

Taste: Great!
I'd like to think everyone has had this sandwich, so there isn't really much to say about it. It's good, juicy, has a unique taste, no spice. Nice butter on the bun, overall a good sandwich, and was actually the best sandwich to eat cold as well.

BONUS:



I got Chick-Fil-A's mac n cheese and it was fantastic. It comes served PIPING hot and well, it was a nice cheesy mess with bits of that grilled orange cheese that people love. I haven't had a lot of Mac n Cheese, but I can say it is better than Panera. Oh, and Jason's Deli + IHOP >.>. Would recommend at least trying this, though the price is steep for what you get.

Zaxby's

Taste: Good!
Respectable Pickle
A decent contender, this sandwich didn't offer a spicy patty but instead got spice from their Spicy Zax Sauce (or any wing sauce of your choosing). That's the good part about this sandwich - you can get an insanely hot sauce and actually have the only spicy chicken sandwich you'll see here. Other than the size, there wasn't much to say about this. Was a bit on the salty side, and had a really good crunch to it.

McDonald's​

Well, this chicken sandwich had a texture that was reminiscent of rubber, and a taste that I thought was fine at first, but when I ate this sandwich cold it was the worst thing I've tasted in my entire life. Probably the worst sandwich in hindsight, but I was distracted by a good pickle, decent sauce with a tiny bit of spicy, and a nice buttery profile. It had the most factory-made overprocessed look to the chicken patty. Somewhat like a McChicken. I forgot to take pics of this sandwich, so here come day old pics!

Popeye's

Taste: Good enough (normally better)

This was an off-day, but I had to include my thoughts of the current sandwich. There's a tiny bit of spice to the sauce here, and normally a pretty nice unique taste, though this sandwich in particular tasted like their normal fried chicken. Not sure what went wrong here. Maybe they bread these in-store and someone messed up? Anyways nice pickles, and a sauce that actually gains more spice if you eat the sandwich cold. Extremely greasy.

Church's

Taste: Well... bad.
I was looking forward to this sandwich the most. It comes with a pickled jalapeno and honey butter brushed on those buns. Now, Church's is my favorite fried chicken, and honey butter biscuits get me fiendin', but the overuse of the honey butter was upsetting my tastes, as I'm not actually a fan of honey. If you like honey, you might like this sandwich. No spice to be found. The bread also had a weird chew to it.

Wendy's

Taste: Decent
This sandwich looks a bit better than their old sandwich, but it has the same taste issues and consistency issues. I've had a couple good chicken sandwiches from Wendy's, but almost all of them have been extraordinarily dry. It's like slightly better than Whataburger in this regard, but gives off the same vibe.

COMPARISONS

My Co-reviewer initially gave me this list:
Jack in the Box > KFC > Chick-Fil-A > Church's > Popeyes > Zaxby's > Whataburger > McDonald's

My initial list was more or less:
Jack in the Box > Chick-Fil-A > KFC > Popeye's > Zaxby's > McDonald's > Whataburger > Church's

I think starting off with Jack in the Box lead to a flawed state of mind as I ate the nasty Whataburger right after, which elevated my opinion of Jack in the Box. Chick-Fil-A held up the most, Popeyes got better. What I can say for sure, are McD and Whataburger are both sandwiches I would never get again, and Church's I -really- would not get again because of the honey taste, but that's a me thing. Zaxby's would be awesome with one of their spicy sauces, and the rest of the sandwiches are all good.

Great thread... big thumbs up, and can agree with most of your reviews. You should try the spicy deluxe from chic fila, and I would tell you a lot of spicy chicken places to try if you were in California. We specialize in that typa shit nowdays. Good examples: Howlin Ray's, Daves Hot Chicken, Bangin Buns Hot Chicken.

My Co-reviewer mentioned the desire to do that. I can spoil who would likely be the winner in a basic-burger standoff. McDonald's in the USA's fresh beef is the most consistent and delicious burger.

Yeah honestly I usually just make a sriracha mayo and call it a day. Used to put A1 sauce on 'em. I always grill up jalapenos and onions though.
