need wireless help

hello,
i recently just got a net gear wireless router that connects into my speed stream 4200 internet modem that connects to our main PC by Ethernet cables.
i want to set up my laptop wireless and am having difficulties. both computers are running on windows xp home edition

on both computers (main PC and laptop) in network connection i only have a LAN option for connecting, no wireless. how can i get this fixed
(IE: have the little logo with the radio signals on both pcs's to connecet wireless).

That would indicate you do NOT have any hardware permitting you to connect to a wireless and connection and you would have to purchase some.

Either a wireless network card or a wireless USB adaptor. I'd recommend the wireless network card for the computer since it isn't too hard to install and is more reliable if you think you're capable of doing that. If not, just buy two wireless USB adaptors (one for laptop, one for PC) of the same frequency as your router (or newer since anything newer will be backwards compatible).

I can recommend more specifically what to buy (ie: brand/operating frequency), if you tell me the brand/model of your router as well as its frequency (A, B, G, N).

ok thanks, thats a bummer they should have it in the box all ready to go not buy this and that.
could i just download the hardware/ drivers? or whatever i need?
my router is a net gear wgr614 (v9) wireless -g router.

i live in australia so shops like dick smith electronics or office works?

also do i have to buy 2 network cards? one for the laptop and one for the pc or just for laptop as thats what i am wirelessly connecting.

the laptop i am using is an extensa 2000 this has a button on it for connecting wireless.shouldnt that mean it is compatible already?
it also has a blue tooth button but i dont think that means anything for what we are talking about.

oops i double posted. i dont really want a usb adaptor becouse they stick out and its ugly or is that the best option? are they cheap any more info would be good!

Since you only want to connect the laptop wirelessly you only need to buy one piece of hardware for the laptop.

The network card will either be difficult to install into your laptop or possibly not even possible just go with a USB adaptor.
