Need help on how to F disk computer.

My computer is really fcked up right now. I tihnk it got barraged with viruses disbaled my securirty disbaled my internet. I have scanned removed re installed restored and everything is still fked up.

I have gieven up to fix it so i just want to completely f disk it. I have backed up everything i need. and now i wanna know how i can completely erase and re install windows XP on my comp and then re load the software and stuff.

i have the windows xp CD i need aknow how to do it. someone give me instructions.

I suggest you print these instructions out before you do re-format.

Usually I just insert my Xp disc and select boot from disk. Then I just go install clean copy of Windows Xp.

Just a tip. I'm assuming your talking about the old dos fdisk C:/ command... I miss the days when windows ran on top of dos. Anyway following the above will definitely "fdisk" your hard drive. Make sure you delete your active partition and create a new one in NFTS, that the most important part. Take it from a seasoned computer technician though. Some viruses infect the computer so severely that they can survive a hard drive formatting. It has something to do with the virus copying itself into your boot sector and launching recovered fragments of itself embedded in the RAM after windows is installed. If you follow the above post, but are still plagued with viruses, try using a program like Maxtor Maxblast or Acronis to rewrite your boot partition.

kk, re installed.. and i installed the drivers for screen resolution.. and now i cant connect to internet..help..

You need to install your internet drivers.

Tell me the specs of your computer and router etc.

My computer is a Dell Demension 2350, windows xp, my router is a D-Link 514 2.4GHz rrouter.

I need your modem model as well.

Also your router and modem should have come with a CD if you bought them separately. Just install it from there.

Do you have another computer on your network thats internet works?

yes.. the network runs out to 3 computers.. not wireless.. connected..

one of the computers was mine.. 2 other 2 have internet working.. i needa reinstall the netowkr on my comp..

my modem model is.. its a black comcast DPC 2100 series..

Alright go to the other computer.
Plug in a USB
The go Start> Run > C:\ Then look for a file called drivers.

now copy that whole file onto the usb. Open it up on the non working computer.
And then open each folder up and install all the things in it.

That should work.

I looked around C drive, i found a cabinet file named driver

I put it on my USB and opened it on my comp.. it didint have any folders.. just alot of files.. idk what to do

Also Search for it in other places on the computer like System 32.

i searched it. I found a Drivers folder.. IN the foldder theres a another folder named etc with network, protcol, hosts , and services and in the drivers folder theres a bunch of files i dont understand.

replace the drivers folder on the broken computer with the drivers folder from the working computer?
