Creating a boot disk of a preinstalled system?

Hey, I just got my cousin's old computer to fix. I just formatted and zeroed the hard drive, and I need windows reinstalled. Anyone know how to create windows again with a disk?

Try buying one. Then booting from the disk.

I don't have enough money, obviously. The hard drive isn't compatible with Windows Vista, and you can't buy Windows XP disks by themselves anymore.

you may be able to get another copy of windows free from the company you bought the computer from. If I were you, I'd call them up and see what they can do.

I can't, iBuyPower is horrible. The warranty's off, it's not my computer, my cousin doesn't have the receipt, and I don't think they offer you free repairs or something, I'm just doing this by know-how. I've gotten it tob oot up using my other hard drive, and it's gotten the BSOD every time. I think it's because of the outdated BIOS. I'll check, and thanks for the help.

Find an update for the BIOS, download a copy of Windows XP SP2 from somewhere, set BIOS to boot from disk.

    Bingo.

He took it back, said he's selling it to someone I don't know why, he's probably misleading them, but I got some of the (working) RAM.
