    My religious paper

hey guys! this is just a religious paper im writing...i have written this in 1 night, so there is plenty more to come, and even more to edit. Im not sure if this is supposed to be in the "something for all section", because the point of this is to get feedback (good, poorly written?), not cause a debate, though im sure it will.

If you want to know my religious views:you could say that i am an atheist/i use reason to look at things.
ALL IDEAS ARE MINE,AND CAME FROM MANY THOUGHTFUL HOURS

    Heaven
Either there is no such thing, or there is, but the Christian view of it is wrong. Most Christians can agree that Heaven is a perfect paradise, with no flaws. Though this is NOT true. Every persons view of paradise and harmony are different. Some may think of paradise being a place with murder everywhere, and some may think of it was a place of love and peace. Another example: A man and his wife are riding in a car together. They get into a fatal crash, and both are killed. The man goes to Heaven, though the wife is sent to Hell. Now this man is alone. If his view of Heaven includes his wife, then this means Heaven is NOT perfect, as he will never have contact with her, and she has no possible way of going to him for eternity. How can a place be perfect if every being has there own definition of 'perfect'? It simply cant.

    God
This is pretty much the main topic. On God....most views of a god are of a divine creator. He created the universe and all that we know. Because we have no EXACT definition of god, we cannot prove or disprove.

One example: You can say there is no god because you cant see him, but then someone may say he is invisible.
    Cant touch him? He's intangible.

A man may say, "I have looked all over Earth, and found no god, so therefore he does not exist."

You may counter this with, "god does not reside on Earth, but in another part of the universe."

"I have searched the universe, and found no god, therefore he does not exist."

"God doesnt reside in the universe, but in another dimension."

My point is, you can prove/disprove without a solid definition. You can keep pushing back the defintion forever, saying he resides in a different place everytime you search,or saying that "my religion's deity is different than yours". But if you can have a solid definition you can narrow it down and finally prove or disprove it.

An example: If you define god as living, it does not define where. The world, universe, another dimension? But if you give a solid definition, such as "God is living in this box.", you can discover a final truth. You can conduct tests on the box, search the box,and come to a final conclusion. "I have found a god in this box, therefore a higher being exists." Or something like "I have searched and tested this box, and i have found nothing, therefore god(s) does not exist."

Example 2: A test of this theory. In this case ill use this definition of god;"God is the final judgement of souls". If we can disprove the existence of souls, this would also disprove the existence of god.(In this case/definition of god.)

If god is defined as 'supernatural',than he is not natural. Anything that is not natural is either man made or does not exist. Thus you can resolve that god is either man made or does not exist.

    Healings/Prayer
Prayer is a common way to communicate and ask favors of god. Some believe it does or does not exist/help/work. We can do thousands of tests. You can pray for a raise, and its either you get the raise, or not. Its a completely random outcome, though when it works in your favor, people say it is the work of god, not luck.
You may have 100 people pray for a man with illness, and it may work or not. Yes, it may work most of the time, but it is again random. If it fails and the man dies, you may hear the arguement, "god does not want to heal certain people or get involved". But does he not heal people all the time? At religious rallies around the world, people falling to the ground in tears because they are "enlightened"? Every person at this rally experiences that, not just the people that god decides to help. And when was the last time an amputee was healed because billions of people prayed for him? No matter what, since the existence of time, this has not and will not happen, because it is simply impossible.

    ADDITIONS/EDITS***********

If god is omnipotent and eternal, then he knows what he is going to do at ALL times. You say the universe is 13.7 billion years old. yet if god is eternal, that means that he has existed for trillions and trillions of years. so why does it take him trillions of years to create the universe? That means that it was just god sitting out in nothingness for that long, even though, him being omnipotent, he knew he would make a universe and heaven etc.? and if he had created nothing,he could not be there, since he is the cause for himself.

If god is omnipotent and all powerful, that disproves prayer, since he knows that you will be hurt in the first place, and knows exactly when and where you will be healed. this means that your prayers have NO effect at all, since everything is known ahead of time

you worship god to get to heaven, but once you there u just worship him more and for eternity, so there is really no purpose or meaning at all.

MY UNIVERSE THEORY. There is a universe just like ours. Suddenly, a star supernovas, and turns into a black hole. This black hole attracts all matter, and soon the area around it is nothing. Then other stars supernova, and those black holes attract eachother. Soon all the black holes are attracting eachother and crash into one GIANT black hole. Inside of this single, huge black hole is all the matter of the universe.(This is the ball of matter that is used in the big bang.) This huge ball becomes EXTREMELY dense, and it begins to attract the black hole. The black holes falls into itself, and all the matter is released in a giant explosion (the big bang?). This explosion creates the universe yet again, and the cycle is restarted. This would prove the universe a cycle, and cycles are never ending, which means the universe is eternal. If the universe is eternal, and god is eternal, god could not have created the universe.

    I suppose it isn't bad.

My only question would be what your intent is for this piece?

If it is for anything academic your next step obviously would be to find sources that can back up your ideas. This will give you much more credit as an author. Just because you have spent hours thinking about these topics does not make them true.

You also say that you use reason. Well what type of reason (logic) are you using? People say they use reason when they do not exactly understand what it is. There are many classes you can take in college on different areas of it.

Don't take any of my comments as insult. It is simply only criticism to improve your writing.

Well i am part of a particularly religious family, so i might test my work with a family member or something...i dont need it academically, but being questioned on my beliefs daily is a hassle, so im planning on writing a written paper for them.

And i mean reason in my thinking of religion, not the paper. as in, i dont believe that god is eternal just because a book says he is. Im reasonable about it, and i figure out the question from both sides of the argument.

Oh, and im not saying they are true, they are just possibilities. I dont believe in anything in this piece, so its not up to me to decide anyways.

Interesting, though people can always find ways of disagreeing on religious beliefs. The common "you can't prove he is here nor can you prove that he isn't" topic for example.

There are also so many other religions in this world, but which one can be the "right" one?

Thats what i was getting at on the "God" section. that you cant prove or disprove a god until you have only one definition, which wont happen unless all the religious converge into one.

Do you not find that proving a god is itself a fallacy? In order to prove something one must find basis independent of the thing in itself; God, on the contrary, is by any reasonable definition infinite, and therefore is contingent upon nothing and encompasses everything. There is nothing separate from God.

Thats a completely biased thing to say, since your obviously a christian. You cant back up that quote with anything. If you can give me ONE single way to prove god being infinite(you mean eternal), then i will so much as think about what you said.

You say 'by any reasonable definition', which is stupid, since my paper clearly says that there is no one definition

It will do you well to not be so presumptuous-- I am not a Christian. Now, let's see... Your second sentence makes no sense. Your third sentence has completely missed the mark: The purpose of my post was not to substantiate a claim of God, but rather to point out the flaw in that very process. I assert that any reasonable evaluation of God will find it to be infinite (and no, I mean infinite) because it's simply illogical to think otherwise. I can't really get into why as it'll take me way too long--and I am indeed sorry for this--but you can easily obtain some reading on the subject.
Hehe, well, you must think pretty highly of your paper to believe that any contradiction to it is immediately rendered false! I believe your argument is wrong because:
    a) multiple definitions does not mean that one cannot be correct; and
    b) proof of God is illogical.

    A) i never said that one cant be correct, i said you cant prove or disprove a god without HAVING only one. If you dont have just one definition and you try to prove it, somebody else is ganna say it is false because god is 'blank' and not 'blank'.
    B) Not really. ( and i dont believe in him) If it were illogical we would have figured this out long ago and stopped the arguments on it.

This was interesting to read and I agree with some of it. I personally do not believe in God. I mean there were people before Jesus. They didn't know about a God? Also there isn't much, or really anything about the Dinosaurs in the bible. Yes, it does say God created Sea creatures but what about the land animals? What about what caused all of the to die? There is nothing in the bible about these events, and its has been PROVEN there were Dinosaurs on this planet. If anyone has biblical references to prove me wrong I would gladly retract my statements. Also I see the bible as a book left with room to interpret, but if God's word is perfect then why is there room to interpret?

I don't see how others can say there isn't a God to be honest. There HAS to be a creator of some kind, somewhere. This doesn't mean it's a God from any human religion, but a God nonetheless.

This arguments falls on its ass when someone asks who created God.

It asserts a premise: Every creation must have a creator.
The asserted conclusion: God is the creator of the universe.
    The contradiction: Who created God?

Are you stupid? So just because there has to be a creator there has to be a god? Ever heard of evolution? Not saying that is how things were started but no there doesn't have to be a "God" of any kind. There doesn't HAVE to be a creator. Big bang theory possibly, no there is no answer as to how that mass got there but there is also no answer of how God got here, if you believe in God. You have a invalid argument, and you provided no evidence to back up your absurder statement.

I thought up a theory to prove the big bang, but the unanswered question is still how the mass would be there, even though matter cannot be created or destroyed. im ganna update the paper right now for you

That is an interesting theory, and it does make some sense to me, but it is just a theory. I'm not sure I believe the big bang theory really, I don't really have an idea or a thought on how the universe started, but I know I don't think God was sitting around and just created it, because that would bring us back around to who made God, blah blah blah. Things do not spontaneously come into shape if you know what I mean.

A question for people who believe in God.

Has the thought of Jesus being mentally ill ever crossed your mind? I mean you have a man who hears God talking to him. He walks across water. He calms a storm. He turns water into wine. Takes a loaf of bread and fish and feeds thousands. He bring a dead girl back to life, and gives a blind man sight.

It could be argued that he was crazy or some of the people who wrote the bible were crazy. The did have mental illnesses back then so its a possibility.
