This is chapter one of my backstory...

It was a dark night upon the kingdom of Drakainisse, the Drakainissian army was a long feared army which had won many battles against some of the other great kingdoms. In the training barracks of Drakainissian there was a new soldier who had just been recruited by the army. His brother and his parents had died in a long civil war between the two parties of government. The Archanidians and the Drakains. The Drakains had won the war so they crowned the head of the party as King of Darkainissian, Judge Heath.

The hero is sleeping on a haystack, he yawns and wakes up. Several popup items appear which the hero can click on. Once he clicks on each different bubble, he will learn of a new skill and how to use it. The first skills he will learn in this tutorial section is Attack/Basic Magicks/Archery. He will also receive an animal to assist him in battle. The animal is a small cat which is incapable of doing effective attacks. The cat will continue to level with each hit.

Once the Hero finish’s the combat tutorial it is now his job to learn of the user interface. Several tutorials will pop-up explaining him how to use the interface.

A major skill in the game is stealth. It is a rule that past a certain time people may not wander at night. Of course your Hero will want to look around. Among the grounds several vicious dogs have been placed, your hero will follow a path which will lead around the grounds to his first prized weapon. There will be no fighting taking place. Your character as he progress’s around the grounds will be learning new strategies on how to avoid being seen and taking dangerous obstacles.

Once your Hero has finished the round he will encounter a new sword called the Draken hammer. Draken is the weakest type of armory and weaponry in the game. Suddenly you will see a spirit come near you, your character and you animal will now be engaged in a battle. You have 5 different attack styles you can use with your new sword. The attacks are Slash, Stab, Slice, Throw and Lunge. Your cat will be doing minimal damage to the spirit.

After you have defeated the spirit a scene will play showing an alarm sounding off and guards are now pouring outside to investigate. Your mission is to bypass the guards by using your stealth tactics and by using force. Be aware that guards are much stronger than you.

After completed the vigorous task of reaching back to your barracks, a scene will now play of you going to sleep.

Congratulations, you have finished Tutorial Training part 1

Stay tune for part two!

Yawaigud. But...try making the Drakanakilak army into something easier to pronounce. :P

I made the names so they would sound like they came from the Medieval times (Dark Ages).

Thanks anyways. I'll work on chapter two if people are interested in the idea.

Very good but, the hammer shouldn't be that weak because the guards are stronger than you, the hammer must have just right and proper stats that gives your character. But i see you want people to use strategies, that's also fine. Over all Very good job!

You are not supposed to kill guards from your own barracks i hope? They recruited you. Your job is to escape, if you must engage in battle then so be it. Just make sure you get the hell out of their ;)

Oh i see, Good story:P

I was thinking we may do away with the lengthy training that most games unfortunately have.

The game should be obvious enough that simply starting it up and wandering around teaches you the interface. Maybe have a short help part at the start.

As for backstory. Won't we need one for each class? If we have classes. And in that case we need to decide the classes.

Check on the classes thread Ryan (I thinK it was him) suggested, there are some great classes there.

Indeed. What i am thinking is that you don't train your stats by hitting a monster. It depends on the weapons your wield and the accessories and that you can gain points by killing monsters. You can then spend the points on experience.. This might increase the excitement of the game play. In the first chapter i was just introducing the aspects of the game.

Now as for the Classes if we can get this sorted out quick then we can start writing multiple game plays for different classes.

I will be taking the results from a thread which was decided in on about classes and i will make up a plan for this.

Thanks.

Perhaps each class could play a certain character in this back story.

The story could also be played from different peoples prespective of the situation. For example there could be a "Priest" who has watched the boy grow up and he has had a role in protecting him. But again getting characters to co-operate in this fashion would be hard.

But More to the point the story line could be such as a quest and instead of leveling you advance through the quest and life. Eventually completing the quest and the game. With whatever you have earned throughout it.

Yes we shall be making this up. Its quite a fair bit of writing too lol ;)

And I was also telling Jokerz over msn that depending on what class you do there should be passives that make you better at one skill then another.

IE. A hunter can train fletching faster then a skill like mining because hunters usually use bows and he knows a lot about them.

This will increase the game replay value because each class levels different.

And different class can be a DPS, TANK, and a CASTER.

well maybe u could take a look at our thread http://sythe.org/showthread.php?t=435381
there are some ideas u could use in ur story
there are 4 different classes which can all be learned and used to master ur skills, another great thing about it is the the classes are all dependant on each other and use there skills to help each other out, maybe you can take this idea to a higher lvl or something

plz and thx
