Nobody's ever even got a 10 black mark ban. There was around 10 people bot busted and the max ban was 5 black marks, of course when there are over 100 people online at any given time of the day, many people do over-use and it's easy to get half a black mark and temp ban if you do, but that's not anything to do with the bot - people are informed of what's sensible. There was even around 100 online during bot-busting and relatively very few got caught.
I do sympathise with mods that it's not easy (about 3 of those had 5+ black marks already for various other offenses, and from being bot-busted, lost their account) to deal with or moderate people who are upset etc, but it should also be clear from those threads with screenies of J-Mods that the 5 black mark bans were from bot-busting (rather than detectability) and as soon as we knew what J-Mods were doing, we let people know and gave advice, although the risk of running into a J-Mod is statistically low. I don't think anyone who's used my bot for a significant amount of time would call it detectible, in the same way I don't think people who've never used my bot should make judgement from hear-say. For example, we investigated the one person who started a thread complaining of a perm ban in these forums, it turned out he had around 6-7 other offenses on his account and his ban from being bot-busted only contributed 5 of his 13.8 black marks. These people may be upset etc and complain and blame the bot, but it's true that despite recent bot busting (which will not happen again now that code for auto-talker has been moved entirely server-side) the number of people with 99 magic outweighs the number of bans several times over, and the number of 10 black mark (the regular ban for autoing) bans from Magic Training 2 is zero.
I suspect more will complain about the thread closing - especially if your reason is because of bans.
Ironic that because the thread is closed, people will not know the new version with auto-talker source code removed from the client (the vulnerability with the old one) was released yesterday. Until my copy of flash cs3 arrives on Monday I can't update my site so I was hoping to inform people via the thread.
It means people may continue using the old one with the vulnerabilty, not realising there's been a fix, meaning that by closing the thread, you've increased the risk of people getting bans (although I suspect J-Mods have stopped bot-busting now anyway). All in all, I hope you will reconsider before the poll closes.
We always try our best, and the few who were bot-busted have all been given the option of enough free time to get 99 magic (if they wish to). I've already updated the bot and it seems Jagex have stopped bot-busting since there's not been more 5 black mark bans recently, but what I'll do for now is update the parts of the site that aren't flash based, inform people via their RID clients there is a new version, deactivate the old one, and if you have any questions, send via e-mail.
Thanks
