    1. 20 Report a Spammer threads per week done by every moderator including sectionals(approximately 10 - 20 minutes).

    The result?

20 staff members (not including admins) * 20 reports = 400 reports done per week.

The average number of reports per week submitted is 280 - 420.

    2. With regard to Report a Scammer, every staff member doing 5 reports a week would actually clear out the section(approximately 5 - 10 minutes).

There would be times when a moderator is unavailable(such as vacation), which is fine. Although generally speaking there's no excuse to miss these numbers. Any moderator who cannot give 15 to 30 minutes a week shouldn't be moderator. Simply give them a two week warning period and then remove their status.

I'm sick of the inactively here, while compared to others forums that have efficient teams. Other forums aren't afraid to replace inactive staff members so the forum can function well.

For instance you have scammers such as this person who were reported over a month and a half ago yet aren't banned. >_<

I've been told there are already staff activity requirements, but they obviously aren't enough if we have 31 pages of reports. Please adopt these or at least let the community discuss them.

Please post your thoughts and vote in the poll.

    Add:

<Darren> they need to handle like
<Darren> X number of spam reports a week or something
    <Nick_> yeah
<Nick_> but no one does them
    <Nick_> i didnt anyway

Finniscool, you're an administrator who would be willing to act on these rules(assuming they still exist) or at least strengthen them. Come on. D:

That's true to an extent. Some moderators even admit their inactively levels it's just the administration who isn't doing anything about it.

The main problem is that a couple moderators get stuck doing hundreds of reports and get burnt out. They soon quit staff or just stop doing them. Reports aren't fun to do, but as a Moderator you're inclined to do them. The position comes with perks (such as being able to make money verifying guides/middlemanning large trades/gold shops) and negatives like reports.

Never going to happen, to be honest.

I totally agree to this actually, if this is implemented then it would be a huge success, but i feel it would be better to assign a X amount of moderators to the spam, scammer, dispute forum. This way it would all get done at the same time with all staff working together.

Eh. Thing is, it ends up being 1 or 2 people doing most of the spam reports.

I did like, 8 pages a few days ago, I thought some people would start doing them as well, but what happends is everyone starts thinking that the one person will do them all. I don't plan on clearing another 30-50 pages like I did when I was modded. Quite a bit of time, and latly the quality of the reports dropped.

Also, we should have less reports coming in now, as they don't increase postcount now.

To an extent Matt, you do. Moderators have the option to earn an extensive amount of cash just because they're mod. People will use you instantly for middleman, even for large trades.

    Another example would be...

R2Pleasent's gold shop was largely publicized/used because of the fact he was the only mod gold seller(at the time).

The value of that will vary from mod to mod, it doesn't mean much to me personally. I didn't sign anything saying I had to do these reports, we are not obligated to and they are there for mods to do voluntarily. I'm fine with helping out a bit, but really all I want to do is just browse Sythe like a normal member, if I come across problems in my path, I'll take care of them, if people think that makes me a bad/lazy moderator then good for them. If a requirement like this comes in effect, I have no problem with leaving.

I do not use the market at all, do not know how to MM nor want to. I keep my three sections as nice as I can. Report a Spammer is the least important thing to me on these forums. I deal with the spam in my section and that is all. If I feel like helping out in Report a Spammer I do, but I will not do them if you try and force us to.

I am a moderator here because I am able to help people and I find it fun, not because I am forced to do annoying boring work with my very little free time.

I switched to the Off-Topic Section before I resigned, and asked them to promote you in my place when I did resign. They didn't do it though. :(

Well, it's something that needs to change. Seriously.

Was the quality because of mu-b's outbreak of reporting? >_>

And thanks for doing 8 pages to help out.

I don't think post count was an issue. I just reported people as I came across flaming mostly. Spam I don't really care about, as Mods don't even treat it properly.

When a Mod infracts someone for spamming, flaming, etc, you're supposed to actually delete the post too. It's meant to be cleaning up the forums. -.- I thought about making a suggestion about this, but I figured all the Mods would be like, "What do you know?!" :(

I'm not going to say it.

    /comfort Daily

However, you're a Sectional, and Sectionals are expected to be doing spammer reports. Otherwise, why would you have permissions in there?

    Sectionals = Report a Spammer
    Globals = Report a Scammer
    Admins = Disputes, Suggestions, etc.

I love you mate, and no, you don't get paid... However, you have the ability to do something others would quickly, and eagerly do. Sure, it's not a requirement, but I'm sure you would have had no problem with such if it was in effect when you first joined.

You really don't have to be a moderator to help people. I can help people just fine. Are you saying you're more capable than me?

For 1. Everyone knows the programming section has little to no activity. I browse the section daily for new interesting posts... There's really not that much else to do. If you spend 10 minutes a WEEK doing reports, instead of just using the section to get a few mod logs in, you really wouldn't be losing much time, and you'd satisfy members requests :p.

Also, why is it people suddenly become 'super busy' when they become moderators? They browse the forums for a good 6 hours a day before they get mod, then they become active for several extra hours a day... then they simply stop caring :p.

I like you both, but I really don't understand =/.

Agreed. The forum isn't so active that you shouldn't be able to at least focus a bit of energy on a frequent basis into those sections.

I understand that it's not a requirement, but I see no reason why it shouldn't be? In Sythe's own words "You can be replaced" =/. It seems to hold true with almost all of his staff, past and present. You're all a cool bunch, but why not use his gift to you to help out the forum you once browsed as a mere member? That's why he gave it to you =/.

If I need to be replaced, then so be it, I wont complain. All I know is that I work my ass off for 10 hours most days during the week and I don't want to spend my free time doing reports.
And also, with spam reports, you don't always know whos doing them and not doing them. I could have done a page right now without anyone noticing (maybe I did, who knows)

Totally understood, and agreed, no one wants to waste their time moderating...

But if it is 10 minutes out of a week to do say 40 reports... hell, even a half an hour....

    7 * 24 = 168 - 50 = 118
    9 * 7 = 63
    118 - 63 = 55

That's 55 hours of free time a week... at its lowest =/. A half hour of that is not going to kill all of your free time >.>

With your $16/hour job. Pfft. Lucky. ;)

Well, what do you spend your free time on then? D:

That shouldn't be an issue. You can just start in the middle, or go to the last page and do those reports, and work your way back. And you should be able to tell if a Mod is doing them Matt. You'll see locked threads in the section, as they always move them last.

Except that time when I was doing them and had done around 3-4 pages, and Tgump went into the section and just moved them all to the archives to steal my Mod logs and make it look like he did something that week. -.-

    FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU :(

But HeavenLord was the last to do reports. :3

If we had mod requirements some of our mods would be leaving, which makes room for new, caring mods. Every mod reaches a point where they just don't care anymore, happens in all forums...Not only sythe.

I agree. What is the point of being a mod if you are not moderating the site for scammers and spammers. I think there should be a minimum amount of activity required checking reports for all moderators.
