Hes still a blue belt, a very talented one, but the belts mean he knows less moves/submissions than Nog.

Davis by UD, the TKO/Sub will be by Nog.

Davis by tko/sub I stand by my prediction. Davis won somesort of jj competition at the blue belt level. Plus he is a freak of nature.

Didn't buy it, I'm going with my 'mentor' I was assigned from a community group that I'm in as we're both huge MMA fans.

I didn't buy it, but I know the scalpers will definitely be pushing the prices through the roof. This coming from someone who knows a lot of them(used to hang around a bunch of them as a few of my friends worked concessions at some of the main concert areas in Toronto).

I train mma and work the door on weekends, started in tae kwon do (itf registered 2nd dan black belt) i did a seminar with general choi before he died.
Currently learning son my ground technique and grabs, not really into bjj, looking into wrestling and judo.
My fave fighter is fedor by far, i would like to see him fight some higher profile people in the near future though if he doesnt retire, i still think he has it in him, he just needs to focus on mma and drop his sambo tournaments etc >.<

Fedor fan.. You have lots to learn my friend. Everything else is pretty cool. I started in TKD as well at age 6, I'm a 3rd degree black belt and a Y -17 World champion under the WTF (world taekwondo federation)

I don't buy into media hype, and fanboyism but I definitely feel that Fedor is one of the top heavyweights in MMA. He's been a bit off in his last few fights (regardless of scoring wins prior to his two losses).

The mental game is probably not there any more, competitive combat sports in general are more mental than physical.

Lol looks like we have opposite views on some things, I like that. Its going to make for some fun conversations here.

Most of the undercard fights and the co-main don't really interest me all that much. I'm a HUGE MMA fan, but I'm most interested in the BJ and Fitch fight.

I don't see fight having a whole whole lot of edge on BJ besides the fact that Fitch can do what GSP did. He will lay on top of you and smother you out due to his strong wrestling base. He also has under-rated ju jitsu, though I don't see him getting BJ in a bad spot submission wise, anything can happen and if he can get ahold of it, he can finish the fight.

Stand up: BJ has this area locked down. Fitch may have a longer reach, but BJ has stellar stand up and finishing power. The rubber match with Hughes is a prime example. EDGE: BJ

Wrestling: Fitch's strong suit. He's a great wrestler, has takedowns on GSP (that is one hell of a feat) and knows how to grind it out. He finds good timing and shoots in like a cheetah. BJ was able to land a higher percentage of takedowns on Edgar than Edgar on BJ in the last fight between the two, but BJ isn't the type to be able to keep someone of Fitch's wrestling caliber down. EDGE: Fitch

Ju Jitsu: BJ has a great game off of his back, he constantly works and finds angles and has freakish flexibility. He can almost always better his situation, and sink in a choke or an armbar. Fitch has a good ju jitsu game also, I think he's under rated because he grinds matches out from the top position. I don't think he's near the level of BJ, however. EDGE: BJ

Overall its going to be an exciting fight, and I'm really looking forward to the PPV. It can see it easily going to the judges if they don't push the pace. Keep in mind it IS a 3 round fight. I'm hoping the winner of this will go on to fight GSP, though I haven't seen it anywhere that they will as of yet. The overall edge goes to BJ, and if he comes out like the old BJ i'd love to see him put Fitch away. If Fitch wins, I hope he doesn't do it by lay and praying. Grinding out the round by laying on top of BJ in some kind of homo erotic fashion. If I wanted to watch gay porn I would. But I don't. At all.

Lemmie know what you think, took me like 10 minutes to write this thing up lol.

I'm aware of the mentality of the sport. I just find it funny that once Fedor joins a bigger organization and is fighter among the top elite fighters, he isn't as good as everyone claimed he was. He has a strong boxing base and he's a tough guy. I'll give him credit there, but he can't even win against people that the UFC is dropping as of right now. I don't think he is evolving with an ever evolving sport. In MMA you can't stay the same, because people recognize that. Someone else will be getting better while you are staying the same. Eventually they will not only catch up, but surpass you. I feel that is what is happening to Fedor.

I like fedor because of his attitude and determination, he is a great fighter and in his prime probably one of the best of all time, right now not so much.
But i support him because of who he is not who he fights.
As to his losses, i dont think it matters as much as people make out, the best in the world can still get submitted by a rookie in ideal circumstances.

I agree with this wholeheartedly, I like Fedor as well, but im not going to say hes invincible anymore. Hes not as hungry as when he was 20.
Another guy that dominated in the past was
Igor "Ice Cold" Vovchanchyn, dude was 5'8 and fighting heavyweights.
If you see his fights he Mike Tysonining guys twice his size with his bare hands.

Nowadays MMA is all about weight classes and all that bullcrap. Back then, it was about the martial Artist's skill. Not how much you weigh'd. Imagine 5'8 Maynard going up against Lesnar, Maynard would get his ass a whopping even if hes 200+ pounds.

I've missed the point you were trying to make on the last part.

Are you saying Maynard would beat Lesnar or that Lesnar would shit on Maynard?

Lesnar would shit on Maynard badly.

What i meant is, back then weight classes did not matter, the best fighter is the fighter that dominates. Ivor was THE BEST in 1999, being just 5'8.

Nowadays we all plainly assume the bigger the fighter the more likely they'll destroy another. So they decided to limit fighters to weight classes.

I gave Maynard as an example showing that, a guy thats 5'8 now, would get totally destroyed by a guy thats 6'3. Even if Maynard puts on 50 more pounds of muscle, hes gonna get shitted. While Ivor whose 5'8 was going around destroying guys one after another.

Then of course you can say MMA has evolved so Ivor may not do well nowadays. I just think there should be more "open weights" instead of limiting fighters to a weight class.

Lol I guess you thought this out. You have the edge's exactly right. BJ has electric standup, you forgot the biggest xfactor though, which is BJ mentality/ if he shows up to fight. I dont think Fitch can do what GSP did to him. I think the only way fitch wins is to do his normal thing and dry hump for 15 mins. I hope bj puts on a good performance, win or lose. BTW DFW accounced winner gets title shot.

Oh so if BJ wins he can get destroyed by GSP right after GSP fights Silva.

    Hmmm thats very interesting.

Yeah. They are kinda in trouble too if BJ win and GSP wins then moves up. They dont have a second fighter for the title shot. I guess the could give Lytle it if he wins too.

Lytle inst champion material. If anything they would give the shot to thiago Alves, depending on how well he does the next fight. if Alves shows he can dominate, A Alves VS BJ, Striker vs Striker match will be interesting.

Damn I cant wait to see Akiyama fight again vs Marquardt hes probably going to get fight of the night again. If Akiyama loses he might not even be cut from the UFC cause he makes Dana $$$ from Asia.
