Mind blown at how fun this game is

Downloaded it in 2010 because one of my best friends played it all the time, played the tutorial and was like "this is stupid what's all the fuss about" and my account got banned 2 days later because I left too many matches (Was in uni and would just quit games when my friends barged into my room and said to grab food, or my gf at the time called me to do something)

After I got banned I was just like eff it whatever and just stuck with RS (had 2 maxed zerkers with turmoil and a maxed range tank, so it was fun destroying kids in the wildy)

Fast forward to now, watched the 2013 LoL World Championships a month or so ago and decided to give it another shot since I barely got my feet wet the first time. Have a full 5 premade with college friends (they're smurfing with me and my brother while we learn) and ganking kids on skype is just as satisfying as dropping kids in the wildy (clan style RIP Higher Force)

Played as ADC Draven, but now that the free champs cycled I'm probably gonna play Teemo/Kog until I get enough IP to buy Vayne. I like Draven a lot but I was told Vayne has a higher ceiling ( and 1500 IP cheaper)

Any tips/tricks for an ADC newfag?

 

Tips for ADC:

-Practice CSing a lot (I generally aim for 100 creeps at 15 minutes)
This is probably most important for an ADC
-If you're playing someone like Caitlyn, harass the enemy ADC when they try to CS with your range

I can't really think of any other tips, but learn to go in for the kill at the right moment and remember about vision and be careful of jungle ganks.

You should have a very fun time with Vayne. She is very fun to play and is one of my favourite ADCs.

As a Diamond/ex-Challenger AD main, I'd say the biggest thing most AD players need to learn is how to be self-sufficient. In lane, this means balancing harrass (and being harrassed) with CS and aggression, and out of lane, it means positioning.

In lane, most low-level AD players choose one - harrass a ton and CS horribly or CS well and get pushed out of lane every few minutes (which lands them with low CS anyway).

Out of lane, they tend to rush into teamfights or 1v1's and try to annihilate everyone.

Basically, my advice would be to practice balancing CS and harrass as well as positioning - there's no magic way to get better instantly. Remember that although it's often your team's responsibility to peel for you in teamfights, you can do a lot for them by positioning yourself to avoid needing constant peel.

I aim for 70-80 cs in 10 minutes. Just play passively and harass the enemy.
Not my idea and found on a utube vid but,
-start by making a custom game and aim to get perfect cs.Don't push your lane too much
-After that, make a custom game and add a bot.(a bot that would go in the bot lane) and aim for the same cs(70-80 within 10 minutes) WITH keeping the enemy's hp under 50% without killing them.
- Play in a normal game and try it once you've got it down.

Without missing any cs, you can have 114 cs within 10 minutes.

Aim for getting at least 70% cs.

 

Yeah, I try to have around 95-100 CS in 10 minutes and at least a 10 CS/minute average afterwards.

 

Yeah right now it really depends who I'm up against. Usually I'm bottom lane with Shen/Leona as support, and if the opponent has more range than me (Jinx/Thresh/Cait) then I get shut down early.

I also rush in too much and get destroyed lol, missed a penta kill because I dove too deep into the base and got hit by a turret. Late game I usually buy a guardian angel if I have infinity edge already just in case haha

 

imo when getting to 4+ completed items, go for a defensive item (such as GA).

 

I should probably give the game another try. I thought it was pretty confusing when I first tried and didn't really get into it. It's still downloaded on the laptop so I maybe I'll try it again tonight.

 

Honestly the reason why I find it most fun is because I'm playing with a full 5 premade full of friends. Ganking kids and screaming "GET FUCKED BITCH" and the likes on Skype brings the lols. Playing with randoms isn't as fun especially if one of your guys just feeds the other team and they have an unstoppable OP as fuark champ =|

 

It is a really fun game, but in my opinion the community really ruins the game.
I actually love the game and I have yet to get tired of it. But when a player goes tilt because something didn't happen his way.
It really does get to me.

 

This exactly, the game is great, well designed and lots of fun, but the community is so toxic. :sick:

 

The community is only toxic on lower levels / divisions, once you get higher you will have perfect games with little to no flamers.

 

LoL is always far more fun with friends. when your playing with friends you will laugh at your fails/deaths, but when solo you'll probably rage/facepalm about silly errors you shouldnt have made

Vayne is by far my favorite ADC, but she does take some skill.

For ADC's in general, you want to farm as much as possible and push your lane. Positioning is key. Never be in the middle of the teamfight where you're gonna be hit by AoE's / easy stuns. Stay in the back, have someone peel (keep others off of you), and don't die You can sacrifice damage for surviving, so don't be afraid to not be hitting someone the entire fight.

As I said before, positioning is key. Be on the outsides just poking high priority targets down.

 

Looks like I'm going to have to get a group of members together to play with. I've never played before, so it'll have to be all beginners!

 

For ADC, you should look for a stable support partner and grow together as a team. Synergize and learn what champs are good with what. Practice your last hitting and orb walking!

Just bought Vayne, doing pretty well with her, killing almost 50% more minions as normal, and I love her chase-down abilities. 2-0 so far playing with rando's.

I'm a lot more cautious now, since I can farm pretty well my item purchase order goes Doran's blade -> BGreaves > Cutlass > BotRK > PDancers > Infinity Edge > Guardian Angel

 

I main AD, mostly Draven.


Though his passive was changed and doesn't deal as much damage as he used to, it's still really hard to out damage him in lane. Get comfortable with catching axes and knowing where they will land. Vayne is better late game, and early game it's very lane dependent. Supports play a big role in this.

General tips for AD:

-It is easier to make up kills than to make up farm. FOCUS ON FARM. 80-90 at 10 minutes. If you are newer to the game and aren't great at last hitting, play some bot games. Keep the enemy below half health and try to hit 80+ farm at 10 minutes. Never kill the enemy or let them above 50% HP. You'd be surprised how much it will improve your last hitting.

-If you play Draven, play aggressive. Have your support play leona, thresh, annie. Draven/Leona is incredibly high damage at level 2. The goal is to force them out or kill them instantly. Get an infinity edge first. I typically finish mind around 11 minutes most games, since I win lane 90% of the time. IE first grants you the ability to potentially 3 hit the enemy AD.

-Never be in front of your team. Positioning is everything. This is a HUGE part of low elo games. Your team will tell you to focus the enemy AD or AP. Focus the closest person to you. Never run through the fight to get to their carry, you will die every time.

I have never really gotten into the game but I have never really given it a chance either. My view on it is negative I guess because my friends would just destroy me in game without teaching me at all how to play aha.

 

Tier 2 boots 2nd is a bad idea. I tend to get Vamp scep / cutlass depending on how much gold i die/back with.
