I don't like the way Mayweather fights. Running around the ring every round isn't exactly entertaining. That being said, I do understand that it's effective, and that he is the best in the world at defensive boxing. I can see why this might be considered a tough call, by some. This is Mayweather's game. He's been doing it for decades, and there's a reason he's 49-0. McGregor, on the other hand, is much younger, in better shape, has the power to actually KO Mayweather, and it seems like he just wants it more. I think if this ends up going the full 12, there is no way Mayweather doesn't win. If McGregor manages to sneak in a lucky punch here and there, we could see a KO. I'm still giving Mayweather like an 80% chance at winning, but I hope I'm surprised.

Mayweather should win but I want McGregor to win.

 

His record doesnt mean much here. You have to keep in mind what all 49 of those opponents did when they lost to Mayweather. They stood in that ignorant boxing stance about 30 inches away from him. Conor will fight more from an mma distance.. can Floyd figure that game out? probably.. but will it take him 6-8 rounds? Probably.

 

Floyd has factually not brought in any mma guys to spar against. He hasn't properly prepared for this fight by any stretch.

With all the crap Floyd has been talking as of late I think Mcgregor has a chance of knocking him out early if he comes at him like he said he was going to according to some ESPN interviews, however, if Floyd sticks to his game there is no way he loses since he is way more experienced. If I'm wrong I'll just change my answer 3 days from now Kappa.

 

I saw a video about mcgregor, apparently he hasn't got control of his "trailing hand" which when he punches with one hand, he isn't protecting his face with the other

This means mayweather could draw him in to punch, leaving him unguarded for a clean hit on mcgregors chin. Few of those could put mcgregor out of play

Hoping this doesn't happen though, would love for mcgregor to win!

 

Prediction: Mayweather wins by TKO.

 

Let's be honest here, coming from a boxer (amateur champion in UK, fighting out of ingles gym in Sheffield - same as Prince Naseem / Kell Brook). Boxing on a punching bag, 16oz gloves are used they're like big cushions. Mayweather is used to fighting in 10oz gloves, the UFC fingerless gloves are 4oz. The boxing control board have just accepted a lower in glove weights to 8oz. This will only help both fighters. Punching power mcgregor will give will be harder now, however as the gloves are lighter this will benefit Floyd's speed. Floyd doesn't have the power to knock McGregor out. He's never been known for his punching power, he's a bitch who runs round the ring. However, he is the greatest pound for pound boxer of all time. The idea of boxing is not how hard you can hit, it's about not getting hit, hence the points system. If Conor lands a big right hand on his chin, he'll flop. We've never seen how good his chin is because he runs round the ring all night, he doesn't like to fight. The only chance Conor has, is to close him down early rounds, apply the pressure, trap him in a corner and unleash hell like he's never seen. If it goes past 4/5 rounds, Conor's tired and will turn into a worse boxing match than Fury / Klitschko.

Just to add insult to injury, my best friend is Marc Diakese from Doncaster who fights in the UFC.

The mans never been knocked out. We're talking fists with 4oz gloves, elbows, knees and kicks, if you think a 40 year old man with factually brittle hands that are prone to breaking that hasn't knocked anyone out in ~20 years (even then not a one out cold) can do it in 8oz gloves then you are delusional.

Only if there isn't a KO.

Pleasantly surprised with the fight itself. Mcgregor fought better than I expected, Mayweather was way more aggressive than usual. Once it went past round 6 you could see the fatigue was getting to McGregor. The fight seemed more or less decided at that point. His only chance at winning imo was with a quick KO. His punches lost all their power. Grats to Mayweather
