So?
That does not prove that it kills brain cells, or prevents it from sending messages at all.
And I never said it didn't affect coordination and reaction time, I said it was not to the same extent as alcohol.
Does that make the chemical physically addicting?
No it does not.
I mean there's tons of chemicals in cigs, but what's the main chemical that's making it addictive?
Nicotine.
So does alcohol, but alcohol also releases toxins which actually KILL the braincells.those chemicals attach to the brain nerve cells, they lower urges of motivation and reward, it makes the brain slower and it reduces the amount of information the brain processes, I say that is pretty bad.
Yes it's natural, but exactly how much is tomatoes, and other foods?Cigs also have Nicotine correct, but most people don't realize Nicotine is also in tomatoes, potatoes, eggplants, and green peppers in smaller doses. People aren't addicted to tomatoes and standing outside the grocery store at midnight. Nicotine is also natural like Weed, but people over look that...

Marijuana does not.

With cigarettes they put more nicotine in, AND they put others chemicals to boost the affect of the nicotine.
That's exactly why you remain high for 3 weeks straight.Once again alcohol is dangerous at certian levels of amount taken, that is why it is limited, you can be thrown in jail and held until your body purfies itself and no longer has effects of alcohol and be let out the next morning. While Marijuana 3 weeks after your last smoke is still in your system, on your gums, lungs, brain cells, and in your urine still being pushed out.
Yeah I bet EVERYONE'S following that.here are laws not allowing minors to smoke
Well yeah they should, but too bad it's such a big industry. And when trying to compare, I think all 3 should be illegal. So no matter what your shooting in the dark.

The amount of nicotine in a cigarette should be limited like many other items, and guess what it is... There are laws not allowing minors to smoke, not allowing people to smoke inside public buildings, also in America many cigarettes nicotine levels are lower then other countries.

wow.. some ppl are starting to piss me off.....
1. You dont see shit when your high unless its laced....
2. The government would make tons... honeslty... are you going to buy some hydro from the government or buy some bunk weed from a home grower..
3. I have driven home PLENTY of times stoned..... and if anything im like 100x safer when i drive. i dont think shit like.. OH it will be great fun to go driving in the field.
4. the ONLY reason weed is a gateway drug is becuase it is illegal... honestly the reason the pot heads start coke and meth and other shit is becuase when you go get high one of the other ppl has it .... if the government legalized it then the pot heads would only smoke pot and say fuck that other shit...
5. for all the ppl who say you would do stupid shit when your high. GTFO... youve obviously NEVER smoked in your life... all you want to do when your high is fucking not move and laugh your ass off ..... only reason you move... is to smoke more, get some food or drink, or go to bed (which most of the time is where ever you are)
Pot doesnt make you a retard... i smoke almost everyday.... i have a 4.0 got a 30 on my act and do great in the sports i play
id say its a little addicting... well the side effects are...
i would vote for pot to be legalized anyday
But marijuana make so much more harms, comparing to alcohol. and effects are bigger
This doesn't mean marijuana is as harmful.I am just stating that besided the effects on your kidneys, alcohol can be out of your system in 3 days or less.
I doubt it would be by much. No, of course everyone is not following the rules, that is always why so many people some marijuana in the first place. If it was legal imagine how much the numbers woud increase...
Marijuana is not a gateway drug.Do yo really think this country would stop at legalizing 1 drug, it would onlyopen up the dorr for more drugs cases to be accepted...
WutI thought you couldn't see
First of all Im glad to see so many people who have no idea what pot does to you talk so much, second of all im glad how this topic got sidetracked from "Marijuana vs Alcohol" to "MARIJUANA IS BAD LAWLerCOPTER?"
Many of you are missing the main point, since we are comparing these two drugs we must not only consider what they can do to one self, but to know when oneself is taking the drug, We have to consider drug abuse and drug use. Many of you are just considering the fact that once you do these drug you will become retarded and do stupid things that you will regret for the rest of your lives, however it doesn't matter whatever drug you are taking, if you have no self-control yourself then you shouldn't be taking it in the first place.
From reading most of the posts it seems like the overall arguments against pot is.. "it is a gateway drug" "it slows your reaction time" "it wont benefit the economy" "you get addicted", allow me to rapid fire through these comments
Yes it does slow your reaction time, but whos telling you to run across the freeway?, I would have to admit that marijuana can be considered a gateway drug if you want it to be, but ive been smoking pot for 4 years and i havnt had any desire to smoke crack or snort coke and such. Pot i would say is addictive, but not to the extent of a cigarette smoker or a crack head on the streets the THC gives your brain so much pleasure that it is very enjoyable and everything in the world seems a little bit brighter. And yes it will benefit the economy, taxing the product would make it just as valuable or even more than the current tobacco trade, and no it really wouldnt take alot of space, youre underestimating the size of our beautiful country.
and for those of you who say marijuanna is more harmful than alchohol...
eat this.. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/6474053.stm
scroll to the bottom and look at the chart.
overall is i think that as long as you know the difference between drug use and drug abuse then there should be no problem in having most non extremely addictive drugs legalized.
the keyword is some. i smoke weed monthly, and i still havnt thought hey lets move on to crack or meth. thats just stupid and moronic. i smoke weed for the pleasure of being away from reality and to think more clearly.
Okay, so I've been doing some thinking about the topic of Marijuana and Alcohol. Law says you can't legally drink until the age of 21 if I'm not mistaken. So what about Marijuana? It is illegal by all standards?
My problem is, what causes so many car accidents and deaths every single year, is it Marijuana? I think not, it is Alcohol that does this.
Marijuana is used for medicinal purposes such as people with Glaucoma, and chronic pain in the back or other areas of the body. This is because it's an analgesic.
Marijuana is flat-out illegal. Why? Shouldn't weed have an age requirement too? It certainly does much less damage and causes much less deaths than Alchohol does.
Think about it, Marijuana can be addictive, or the effects can, and so can Alcohol. But which one causes more of a disruption? People get angry, and abusive and wanting to pick a fight because they are under the influence of alcohol. Alcohol is a depressant.
Marijuana on the other hand, is a depressant. It helps to relax and soothe pain.
So why is there an age limit on Alcohol but Marijuana is illegal by any means? Alcohol clearly does more damage than anyone under the influence of Marijuana.
Please post your thoughts here. I don't want anyone posting any replys that are un-educated or any 1337 speak. Intelligent conversations here.
