Make Moderator Applications Public

Does it have to be the real world to use examples that show idiocy when replicating similar processes?

I would support a hybrid solution of some sort.

 

Just a feeling of safety. I take applications very seriously and even when I might not share anything personal I would still feel better if it was kept private. I see no point in making the moderator applications public while the CDT and PR applications are still kept privately aswell.

 

Support I'd like to know why people were chosen for the roll. And what they can bring to the team. Ultimately it's other mods voting so I don't see why not.

 

no support, i think this may even dissuade people from wanting to apply, apps for mod positions are kept private almost everywhere i've seen and i think it's best that way. what's the real benefit to you of seeing someone's mod application anyways?

with that said, i haven't actually seen the mod template so i can't comment too much on what the person applying would have to say

 

I agree that everything besides voting should be public. As for people saying that they don't want theirs released, it's really not a problem. What if we just asked if they would like it to be released publically? Just take it app by app, maybe even make it part of the application.

Not supporting, I moderated and applied for a community 3x the size of sythe multiple times over and they had public applications at the time which was absolutely terrible.

It became a biased flame fest aswell as bribe and kiss ass to as many staff and community members as you can, I don't think that's the right path for Sythe, I don't like staff having the power to choose staff solely either frankly but the community helping choose them would cause Rifts and Power struggles between the teams, community & staff.

It became a major problem on the other community I moderated when you started having staff pick certain applications they supported, the community would start battling over it and raging on the applications, and then it just becomes a cluster fuck when u've got your staff team divided 5 ways on 5 applications and the community divided trying to figure out what the hell to do.

Then that leads to increased hate if a community member or staff shoots down your application or prevents you from getting staff, which just makes the rifts worse and worse.

I cannot tell you how many headaches public applications caused, was a complete and utter clusterfuck trying to sort the disasters out, eventually it was made where the community can see them but cant respond or anything else.


Tl;dr= Public applications are a good way to cause rifts between staff & community, rifts between the teams & community, and overall just a clusterfuck for Sythe or higher staff when they go to choose.

That's why I've stated multiple times that I would not mind my CDT application being public.

I would like to see transparency in the moderation applicants; however it looks like the negatives are outweighing the positives on this one:l

I'm afraid that will happen either way now that it will be possible to apply for a moderator possition.

 

I support a hybdrid option not posting Personal details of course and the rest can be made public, or just ask the applicant if they would allow theres to be public or not

No support, making them public would allow people to copy from other applications, Moderator Applications should only consist of what you yourself can write without the aid from others.
