Make miniranks more available

1.Saying a decent amount is in circulation is mere speculation.

2. If you can't find those threads it means they're old and discontinued like the rest.

I don't recall previous events giving out an exorbitant amount of prizeboxes remotely in the same vicinity as the christmas event.

Typically yes, but there hasn't been many threads that grant these rewards to even make so much as a dent in the significance of supply.

 

In my opinion, miniranks give a false representation of trust on this website.

If they were more easily obtainable, it would be a simple task to gain a bunch of miniranks and make a nice sig, so as to scam the less informed users who come here to trade.

Sythe is a marketplace before it becomes a prestige game with things like titles and donations and miniranks, etc.

A middle ground can be reached when it is decided how the rewards are processed.

No "you" can't. 3 people out of the thousands on the site can, while others get an aesthetically ugly seasonal one.

I'll admit that the Christmas event was the one exception. Good on CDT for that one, but there was nothing else NEARLY like it.

These are all discontinued except for 2. Also you can only get 1 certain minirank from these which is exactly what I'm suggesting. Heidy, potamus, LSP seem to be more common than the others because people can actually win them.

A troll competition in the SF once every blue moon does not count as frequent competitions. Also think of all the people who don't participate in the SF.


Every single example you posted is awesome, but if giving out 10 unique miniranks in the span of several years is what you consider a lot then I would think again.

The easier it is to produce. Your comparison of miniranks to coke is actually stupid. 1.6 billion coca cola products are drunk every day, and yet they cost upwards of $1 each. Are you really trying to compare billions of items released every day to miniranks lmfao?

 

Support, I noticed most of the mini-ranks are obtainable by doing "good deeds". I've seen many people including myself give back loads to the community yet haven't received a mini-rank for doing so. (My league game/giveaway, my dicing giveaway and others)

There's enough of them floating around to create a market and prevent saturation so everyone has what they want (which would happen with your idea)

No support, mini ranks have continued to come into the "market" per-say and will continue to do so. If someone wants a specific mini rank, buy one.

The designs are great, but the "rarity" of them also make them cool. The easiest example I could give is the party hats in RS. In 07 everyone has them and they're still "cool", but in RS3, they're cool and they rare which further intensifies said coolness.

A version I may support could consist of a chance in getting one from a post and being limited to getting 1 every 500-1000 posts (there would be a chance to get a mini rank, no guarantee, and if you do get one you cannot get another for 500-1000 posts). Even this I think would over-saturate the market and possibly promote spamming.

I just removed the whole CDT section and started it from scratch, gonna start a solid tournament rotation/program and get those going more regularly. In seasonal events there is also the chance to win random miniranks/prizeboxes as well as seasonal ones.

An example of a good deed is just recently I awarded people with miniranks who helped with making icons for currently uniconed sections on the forums.

I will look at using the detective minirank more with people who help catch a lot of scammers/ban evaders.

I can make some card game giveaways like I did before in the Sandbox if the demand is there?

Besides that, I think pc for miniranks is a stretch too much.

And yeah I recognized that icon thing you did and everyone seems to be referencing it but that and designing miniranks are really the only things that come to mind. Also they don't seem to fit the criteria for a "good" deed.

I personally don't find the card game/dicing giveaways "fun" but hey you can make a poll for a few days and test the waters out to see if there is demand.

I also don't really find 500 PC that much of a stretch since again that is a lot of post count (during my tenure on Sythe I would only have gotten 4 miniranks
).

So how exactly do you suppose I buy your Jake the Dog minirank? As it stands I believe only you and maybe 1 other have this minirank excluding admins. What is the point of having miniranks that no one has/can get?

 

If you help us out with making something or writing a useful guide we need or stickies for new sections, things like that

That's a bit of a selfish reason don't you think? As opposed to helping everyone gain access to mini ranks fairly you don't want to so one of your miniranks doesn't lose $5 in value?

 

This week alone I've received 3 mini ranks at no monetary cost.

I helped make GFX for the site for ninja minirank
I Participated in creating a new minirank, and was awarded that minirank
And I won a giveaway in the sandbox.

Not everyone can make GFX and as I stated before this isn't a very common thing.

That was just stupid, there was no reason to create new miniranks when there were tons of ones already available that aren't even in circulation. Also might I add that it's pretty sad you made a petition for so long to get this minirank that you supposedly personally wanted very much only to sell it the same day...

That has nothing to do with admins/mods making miniranks more available. Those miniranks were already in circulation and given to you by another non-admin person AKA irrelevant.

 

Hmm, it does seem unfair for those who may not have cash to afford donating, or paying for mini-ranks, or don't rwt, [personal excuse] I would like a penguin, but see no way to get it unless your buying it from someone.

Other then that I've not been around long enough to understand the full extent, and have not read majority of above responses, I'm happy at the moment with participating mini-ranks//per week, as I'm a person who likes to talk in general, but I can see how/why people have concerns.
