Right now there just isn't anything anyone can do to gain miniranks other than donating $50 for a prizebox after already having donated $100 (which doesn't seem very reasonable to only get a $10-$15 minirank).

So let's break it down. This is how you can currently obtain miniranks according to the official stickied minirank guide.

Given out as a prize for good deeds/competitions and giveaways.

Let's see if this is possible.

Good deeds: What does that even mean? No one gets miniranks for being nice or good, if that were true yousuck would have every minirank for keeping the site clean.

Competitions: These happen every other month or so and for what? A unique minirank to be give to 1-3 people? Or a seasonal minirank.

Giveaways: This never happens.

Now here's what I don't understand, why aren't miniranks given out more easily?

My solution:
-give a prizebox for every 500 posts a user makes (reward for good activity)
-give a prizebox for every approved suggestion (good deeds)
-give a prizebox for every 50 spam reports (good deeds)

HERE'S THE BEST SUGGESTION: Actually follow through and give miniranks for whatever "good deeds" are and make more frequent giveaways that everyone can participate in. There's no reason for every person on Sythe to not have at least 1 unique minirank.

I just personally find it stupid that I would have to pay someone $30 to get a for example weed minirank just because there aren't that many available. Why are they so expensive in the first place, is Sythe.org trying to create it's own form of currency?

Also, it's crazy that there are over 100 miniranks, yet some of them are virtually impossible to get for no reason and some I don't even think are in circulation.

NOTE: Please do not post something like "No support" by itself or with some very 4 word lame excuse afterwards. Please try to go through my suggestions and if you do not support them then say explicitly why or what is wrong with them.

If you have any other suggestions for making miniranks more available, then don't be afraid to contribute.

No support, Miniranks are already getting out pretty quickly.

you can get miniranks if you help contruibute to the website wether that be with helping make icons, GFX, or help make miniranks for seasonal events.

If miniranks are just given out for no reason at all or more often it would devaluate them heavily (and I'm not taking about $ wise.)

Not true at all. Define "quickly"

you can get miniranks if you help contruibute to the website wether that be with helping make icons, GFX, or help make miniranks for seasonal events.

That happened once when Roary made that thread recently, I knew someone was going to bring it up, it's irrelevant. Also, 1 person getting a minirank for making the seasonal event minirank? How in the world is that "getting out quickly"? And again, that's not at all easy for anyone to do, not everyone can do GFX and I doubt anywhere near 1/5th of Sythe users can.

If miniranks are just given out for no reason at all or more often it would devaluate them heavily (and I'm not taking about $ wise.)
No reason? Did you even read the thread? I gave several reasons on how to do it and it won't be often at all. How else would something be devalued other than monetarily? Spiritually? Emotionally?

Try again.

As Hamouze mentioned, this only gives miniranks to a very small portion of people. What about those with no graphic design skills at all?

I think there's a small portion of the sythe.org population that has a large amount of miniranks, but for the average joe like me they mean next to nothing, just because of the fact that they're so hard to get (other than seasonals) and I'm not willing to spend money just for a little icon under my postcount.

I do believe donating to the site shouldn't be for the miniranks though. Should be because there's a real intent to support the site, perks should definitely come second.

Not too sure of your suggestions as that may cause a large influx of spam in RaSp, dumb suggestions, and irrelevant "added on skype" posts. I do however agree with your "best solution" in that miniranks should actually start to be given out for the reasons outlined in the minirank guide.

I highly doubt people are going to try and spam up to 500 posts for a $10 minirank. It's pretty difficult to get post count up that much. All "added on skype" and spam posts would be deleted as they already are.

If the RaSp is spam itself, the user will be infracted and their report won't count.

Dumb suggestions won't be accepted and the threads will be locked.

I appreciate that you somewhat support the idea though :)

As with many other things in the past. Almost every CDT run event that I've done so far has given out mini ranks as a form of prize. (Especially with seasonal events where we have multiple events) That coupled with the prizeboxes that are coming out because of the larger donations sythe has been recieving lately means there are alot coming out.

I could provide you with lots of examples; but you dont give a shit
You made a suggestion in the suggestion forum and you will have tunnel vision disputing everyone's opinion who dosent agree with you.

How else would something be devalued other than monetarily? Spiritually? Emotionally?

What gives something value?
If I have a one of a kind basketball card, signed by Micheal Jordan its valuable because its the only one.

How valuable is a can of pepsi when there are million others across the world?

Obvious exaggerated example but you get my point.

People pay what they want for miniranks, the prices they have are as a result of what the person buying + selling agree it is worth. No one is forcing them to get it.

500 posts - Idk wouldn't this promote spam? Quality/quantity.

Approved suggestions - Sounds OK, but might work like the 500 posts with a large number of people putting forward of senseless suggestions just with the aim of getting a prizebox.

- Post count requirements, no matter how high would undoubtedly encourage spam. I'm more in favor of making the prizebox randomly generated through users posting.

Example:

You have a 1/1000 chance of getting a prizebox for posting in areas that grant post count.

- I don't agree with granting prizeboxes to users who have their suggestion approved. This would cause users spamming practical suggestions in hope of it getting approved.

Example:

Fix the typo in this sticky/title.

- I don't agree with granting prizeboxes to users who report spam posts. Ironically, reports would get spammed with borderline appropriate posts being interpreted as spam just to fill up that 50 spam report quota.

I do think that miniranks need to be given out more as there aren't many in circulation. Reasons being most are on banned accounts, in the possession of someone who doesn't want or care to sell/trade them, etc. Users who disagree are trying to create a monopoly by suffocating supply.

I admit that my solution isn't perfect but I am glad that people are agreeing with the idea in general that miniranks need to be given out more easily. That needs to be the consensus first off, then later people can decide what exactly would be required to be granted the miniranks. In the end it's in the hands of the admins.

In response to everyone speaking of spam as I feel like that would be a contentious point, it will not happen. Yes I can definitely see it happening if it were like 50 or 100 posts, but there will not be someone going out of their way to make 500 posts just for a $10 minirank. There are way better things to do and getting that amount of posts takes a LONG time. Not to mention that it will be easy for mods to tell who is spamming if newcomers are doing so with the ppd and whatnot. It's not like mods aren't taking care of their sections so spam will be removed if it ever happens. If people were able to spam that many PC then there would be a lot more people with 2-3,000+ post count.

I support the approved suggestion idea. I feel that you have offered something but dont get any credit. As for post count no as people will spam even more (I have high post count I know).
Also I support that they need to enforce their good deeds and maybe have competitions more where everyone can take part (Not GFX cause people like me could never compete with GFX artists.

As also stated above, alot of miniranks belong to few people (Bogdan, Harleigh and people like partypete who just spent tones of money on them).
You shouldn't have to pay upwards $30 for "rare" ones since noting happens to get them.

This, this is the best idea i've seen on this subject, and I would support this.

Coming out? Coming out of what? People's donations. Meaning again it's just limited to people who are paying exorbitant amounts for them.

I could provide you with lots of examples; but you dont give a shit

You right I clearly don't give a shit, that's why I asked for everyone's opinion(insert sarcasm here). Are you saying I should just let people get away with lame untrue disapprovals?

Miniranks aren't supposed to be one of a kind. And literally your definition of valuable is still money, so yes you are referring to money. The value of that Michael Jordan card is determined by dollars and cents.

How valuable is a can of pepsi when there are million others across the world?
This is just stupid. You're comparing a pixelated minirank that is supposely given as a prize to a mass manufactured food item. All I can say is lol.

Obvious exaggerated example but you get my point.
No I don't get your point because miniranks aren't supposed to be like that. They currently have no purpose/aren't given for specific reasons. They should be categorized and given for certain things/events that relate to them.

They're already worthless, sorry no support. Too many of these things already.
This is just false. Like, it's not true. Unless you call $30-$50 for "rare", AKA uncirculated due to lack of minirank distribution, minirank "worthless". I believe they should be made worthless but they aren't.

This will only promote spamming. They are already plenty to go around.

You literally just responded to one of my possible suggestions. And again, I'm talking about how they are "going around". Why are people not able to get them other than trading with other people? Imagine if in Runescape the only way you can get armour is by trading other people/paying for it, you can't make it, can't fight and kill for it, nothing except trading others who received it by also trading others/paying for it.

The underlying point is that they aren't being given out for good reasons.

I disagree with releasing tons of prize-boxes to devalue them. Having less miniranks that are more sought after definitely seems better to me. And yes, they're not supposed to be super easy to get. The ones being sold for high value are from people that either literally created them, earned them from an admin, won them in a tournament, or paid $50 to sell it for a fraction of that. Of course when you suggest "Do you want to get miniranks easier?" people will say yes.

As far as rewarding posts/suggestions/reports go I think that's a great idea. But I don't think handing out prize-boxes is the way to do it. 500 posts in a section could give you a permanent participation rank, maybe even gilded. 3 Approved suggestions could give a special minirank. People who help in RaS could be given the detective rank. There could be another for helpful contributers, etc. Hell, even some official recognition would be great.

So yeah tl;dr I support rewarding activity and contributing to the site. But I don't support doing that by just handing out a fuck ton of prizeboxes.

Hell just for being a part of the CDT for this short amount of time I have contributed to seeing hundreds of miniranks given out, But please just ignore all this or brush it off as im sure you will.

Coming out? Coming out of what? People's donations. Meaning again it's just limited to people who are paying exorbitant amounts for them.

I dont care about the monetary value of miniranks. value does not always = money.

You right I clearly don't give a shit, that's why I asked for everyone's opinion(insert sarcasm here)

No you posted it in hopes to get it approved.

Miniranks aren't supposed to be one of a kind

Didnt say they were

And literally your definition of valuable is still money, so yes you are referring to money. The value of that Michael Jordan card is determined by dollars and cents.

No I'm not referring to its value by dollars and sense, Money in itself is not valuable at all, its fucking ink on paper and for some reason you think that its more valuable that something of noteworthiness.

This is just stupid. You're comparing a pixelated minirank that is supposely given as a prize to a mass manufactured food item. All I can say is lol.

Hmm so your saying because something is "mass manufactured" that it dosent have alot of value? So I'm safe to assume the easier something is to get the less value it has?

No I don't get your point because miniranks aren't supposed to be like that. They currently have no purpose

They don't have any purpose?
Lets give out more! that will surely give them purpose!

In response to bleu,

Those examples give a poor presentation of the distribution of tradeable miniranks.

You gave examples of sandbox threads that grant miniranks as a reward for winning, but when was the last time someone won a minirank from those specific threads?

Those spam forum links are discontinued and old.

The 1st thread is nearly 2 years old (discontinued).
The 2nd thread is 2 months away from being a year old (discontinued).
The last thread is one month away from being a year old (discontinued).

Helping out the site with various tasks will often grant you permission to choose any minirank you like (this includes untradable). I myself have chosen an untradable minirank from helping out, thus not affecting the pool of tradable miniranks in active circulation. This is not something that is continuous either.

The Christmas event occurred 7 months ago. Many of the participants have been banned. Some may have been banned with a prizebox/minirank still in their possession, therefore suspending trafficking.

Dosent change the fact that

1. a decent amount or even some, of those miniranks are still in circulation
2. There would also be more threads that I haven't found

In that time the CDT also has had multiple other events where miniranks prizes were given out.
