Make fun ranks more accessible

I believe that fun ranks currently are too difficult to attain, and seem more like a reward for staff than members (Which, if they are seems pretty silly).

So the suggestion is short: Make fun ranks easier to attain. Be it through community contests or whatever. These should be rewards for your members to encourage involvement.

 

Support, however I feel different ranks should be made for the public, opposed to ones staff have. I was told fun ranks are for staff members who shine through and what not.

Having non-staff have the generic fun ranks, may be lead to the ideology of new users mistaking it for a symbol of trust. I believe fun ranks for the community should clearly be labelled so, and should be similar to the 'competition winner' one we have currently.

 

Honestly I don't know how a rank like "zombie" would create trust in anyone.

Currently, maybe. But only because of the difficulty in getting it. But if it was made easier, and one were to see it more often, it simply wouldn't have the same affect.

 

fun ranks definitely lead to people trusting you more to a certain extent, I remember when I was new at sythe, basing who to trust on how many ranks they had, something like cracker head or zombie, tells you that the staff like/trust that person.
I think more temp ranks for winning competitions would be cool though.

 

Again, I believe this has less to do with the rank than the rarity.
If you were to see these types of ranks more often, it'd be less of an inclination to trust.


Also, please consider that these ranks wouldn't just be handed out, it obviously would be linked to the quality of the member more than the "quanity" such as a donator rank or post count. Which are easier to get and imply the same "trust".
It's just that these ranks are so impossibly difficult to get now it's just silly.

 

Support providing it doesn't get to the point you can't tell what level of rank anyone is anyone or the whole forum grouping system becomes a joke because everyone has dick-retarded ranks.

Fun ranks are being given out more generously through contests and such then they were before, but don't expect anymore than that.

 

But then again, fun ranks need to be more accessible like what OP said.

As of now, members stand close to 0% in attaining any of them. Even on staffs, they were rarely given out.

 

Support, may as well call them Staff Fun Ranks because only a rare few get them through retarded means such as winning the 2 competitions that are held every year or being an ex-staff member.

 

Support, would get the community more involved.

 

Lol, there was a time where even mods didn't get fun ranks. Giving ranks to mods was added as an incentive for mods to do better.

I feel like this is the one thing that we should leave as it is. Fun ranks are deemed as trust, or at least general likeability and/or contributions to the website, whether you like it or not, that's a simple fact.

Why shouldn't it be staff-only? They volunteered their time and if an admin thinks they deserve it, then they should get it.

 

They're more accessable today than they ever were, with the introduction of various competitions. If you want one, you'll have to enter some competitions.

Also note, I have a fun rank yet i've not been a staff member.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, I don't support this, as there are already ways for non-staff to obtain them. I'd suggest suggesting more competitions.

 

Fun ranks present a false interpretation of trust.

Support, but would like to see such ranks added for competitions only. Also I do believe these ranks can at times give a false impression of trust, however you could argue that this is only the case for the people who deserve to potentially be scammed.

Not to go tarring an anyone with brushes, but if someone is involved in obtaining a fun rank, thus involved in the community, they are less likely to scam.

 

Fun ranks are almost exclusively for mods, yet there are ways for non-mods to get them, such as contests like you suggested. Even if fun ranks weren't seen as ranks of trust, this wouldn't be changing any time soon. Honestly I think making fun ranks more accessible than they are now cheapens their appeal and value. They're pretty special/unique atm, but releasing many more ranks to users IMO makes them less valuable

Along with some like my drunk one is exclusive to me, nano and delta.

Tbh the reason they imply trust is because they're so rare.


They're obtainable through contests and stuff but making them too common removes the fun in it.
