Goodluck man, after seeing a few of your posts before it seems like gambling really isnt for you. Do you still get the urge to gamble and do you plan on going on a gambling spree after the 171 days? I hope you don't

Thanks for the support Yeah, gambling really changes who I am as a person whenever I start. I lose all concept of any kind of reason, it's really gross. And yes, I still get the urges to gamble, some days stronger than others. Why, just this week I bought 4.3b with the hopes of flipping phats in RS, which I did for all of 10 minutes, but then the urges for gambling came so strong that I had to dump everything for a close to a $200 loss. I do not plan on going on a gambling spree after the 171 days are up; I just don't plan on updating the log daily any more.

I recently realized gamblings a big part in my life too. Each paycheck or each time i say ill buy gp to Flip i end up staking it all :/ Props to you for going so long without any sort of gambling

Thanks for the support. I did the same, I'd always buy gp to flip but then I'd get cleaned dicing within minutes. It's really sad how addicted I am/was. Best of luck conquering your addiction.

 

$200 loss isn't much compared to what you'll be saving by not gambling! Goodluck!

Why are you only doing this for 171 days? I didn't see a reason in your original post and didn't want to go through 12 pages worth of post.

I had quite an addiction too. It was spring break of 2011, and I had about $3k of fun spending money. I ended up staking all of it and making roughly $20k at the end of day. The VERY next day, I thought I could do it again and ended up losing all of it. I was deeply depressed and upset that I got greedy and didn't just walk away. What I kept thinking about over and over was that money could've gone to something so much more useful, such as paying for another school semester.

Edit: I ended up spending the rest of my spring break alone; fetal position on my bed.

The idea was that by the time 171 days of no gambling were up, gambling would be completely out of my system and I wouldn't need to continue logging my daily activity of no gambling. I figured with college starting around that time that I'd be far too busy to keep this log updated daily, and that it wouldn't even be an issue since I'd be so completely done with gambling.


Man, the amount of times I've done things similar to that story is just depressing =( I'm really sorry for your loss, it really, really hurts each time. People who haven't been in that position before will just say "Well why didn't you just sell?", but until you've experienced it happening, you'll never understand why we kept going. There's always some bogus milestone that we aim for, and once we hit that one, we go for another. It feels great when we're winning, but once we lose it all, all we feel is pain. I hope you've managed to stay away from gambling since that incident, and I hope everything is going well for you now.

yeah man i had a gambling problem, havent done it for over a year.
i took loans and just gambled all the money away iw ould get my paycheck adn just go loose it all in less then 3 hours, im not sure what i have done now that made it stop but i had alot of help from friends and family , so thats what i can suggest go to the ppl close yo you they care alot and will help you.

Recently, I told one of my best friends about the addiction. He was quite shocked, apparently I'm very good at hiding this part of my self from the real world. Telling him certainly helped, so I might tell some others when I'm ready. I'm glad you were able to conquer your addiction, and thank you for the support.

Good job man, you're doing something i could only dream of doing. Though i've only lost maybe 500$ to dicing on sythe personally, but you're doing a fantastic job. I envy you.

 

TTB, i feel you man. I live is las vegas, so i know what losing feels like. its the worst feeling when you gamble money away, or when you chase. Ive lost thousands on the craps table, and i couldnt stop myself. But as soon as I lost the money, I realized i had 800$ in bills that needed to be paid. I felt like a shitbag. A loser, and a let down to my fiance'. imake almost 100k a year and i couldnt even pay the bills that day

I cam to a point where I realized that in order to STOP gambling I had to divert my attention to something else. Its almost like I just WANTED to spend the money for the fuck of it. I then started detaching myself from my own income lol. I gave my paychecks to my fiance and paid all the bills. I didnt gamble cause she wouldnt let me. ANd now a year later, the urges are gone. ESPECIALLY the urge to chase.

Its a rough road but I am extremely proud that youve made it this far. if you ever get the urge to gamble i would suggest to INSTEAD just donate that money to sythe, Cant gamble money you dont have anymore, and PLUS it benefits someone else.
