Lets roll the clock back!

If you had a chance to choose between runescape knowing what it is today and better IRL stuff or a better game, would you start playing runescape?

In all honesty runescape ruined my life, it made me angry, fat, anti-social and I spent thousands on it... I never really enjoyed the game it was more of an escape. But Im starting to get back on my feet now and haven't played in about a month and finding life a lot better, I have lost weight working full time again, found a very nice girl and starting to hang around with a few mates.

If I had the chance I would never have started playing runescape, especially knowing what it is today... CRAP.

 

I could probably publish a book on why i wouldn't play RuneScape if i didn't know what it was.

The game has been the biggest waste of time and money in my life.

 

I think I'd like to wait until the combat update prior to making this judgement. In all the game hasn't been altered too much if you consider it, just lots of little changes over a long time period

 

I can only think of 1 or 2 good updates in the past few years.

 

It all comes down to self-control in the end. Anything can have the same effect. Food, porn, hell even exercise can become an addiction.

I wouldn't have started playing if I knew they were going to try to change it for all the new little MMO kiddies coming onto the scene.

 

fuck yeah. I would have put more time into it early on so I could be a boss right now..

 

If not Runescape it would be another game, But I played games before and I started becoming very angry after playing Runescape which became apparent however i stopped and felt alot better now I just play other games mainly still abit on the side.

Well, I did get to meet interesting people and even though it was a waste of time to train my skills and get those 99s I have, I had a lot of fun just talking to all sorts of random people... but now no one plays, at least in FTP. Playing RS did pay off in the long-run through selling GP, even though it's a low pay-off.

I'm not sure when the game got boring for me, but I think it was when pking was removed because I was in my clan and pk phase and when that expired, so did a lot of the fun.

 

This. I would have definitely put a little more time into the game when it was more enjoyable than its current state; not that hard to control how often you play really. I think the addictingness factor, at least to me, is moreso wanting to not 'leave' the game overall, not really as much as "omg, I can never log out!!".

 

Hell yes I would still have played. The memories I have and friends I've made are priceless.

 

if I had that chance, most likely I would know the rest of the stuff I know now.
So no, I'd spend my time doing something else.

 

Ehh, I only regret not getting more involved in the black market back when it was really big.

For awhile, it was somewhat taking most of my time away from me; but I got out of that phase in the beginning of my Sophomore year so it didn't really affect me like I know it has some people. Honestly though, the only thing I would've been doing besides playing the game is getting in trouble so in that sense, I'm not really bothered one way or the other...

 

i loved the gave back in 2006 or 07 when it looked crapy and was fun , i would still play till the day bh got removed , if i can go back in time , and oviously i would come back after free trade update came out . i dont regret starting to play , it didn't affect my life in a hugeee way maybe because i took monthly brakes and was able too when ever i wanted

 

That's true...but I think I could have made good friends doing something else too while avoiding getting addicted a game that's only gone downhill.

 

^ This pretty much sums up how I feel about the game. Although around 2006-2007, I think I was pretty addicted to it. It's almost painful to play for more than an hour now. I think I've just been involved with RuneScape for way too long. I hate it, but at the same time, it would be weird not ever playing it AT ALL.

I was only 12 when I started playing, so I think I would have been pretty amazed at what RuneScape eventually became, at least in terms of its graphics. Kids are much more easily impressed. That's why all the new players are so young lol.

 

Voted yes, was really fun when I was growing up and learned english while playing it, it's still a great lot of fun.

 

Rs hasn't really affected me that much at all. I've probably spent 50$+ on this game, and all of my stats are botted. The most time in one day I've spent playing is maybe 3-5 hours.
I've never turned down friends to play rs, so I haven't really missed out on anything there.
I've also made more money that I've lost from this game.

 

Well, honestly, if I had never become so addicted to it I don't think I would have learned the lesson in self control that I did when I looked back at how stupid I was to have become so obsessed with the game... but all in all, if I could turn back the clock all I'd change would be my attitude towards it. I wouldn't have let it take priority over irl things.

 

If i knew runescape was going to have a black market then yeah
