Once again another stupid argument. Just because x is more addictive than y doesn't mean y should be legal.

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/a...-IQ-signs-normally-seen-early-Alzheimers.html

Still a silly argument. Just because some people do it and still have jobs doesn't mean the negative effects aren't there.

Trent started it, Robert ended it.
    The unnecessary debate is over.

So let's all get back on topic.

Why are we protecting people who obviously don't want to be protected?

Why are we dictating what people can or can not put in their bodies?

There wasn't much of a topic to begin with.

There is an increase of negative feedback on marijuana because a few people post deceitful comments which they've heard from their parents. Then other people read their comments and start to perceive their posts as fact. This leads to a cycle of ignorance which can be easily undone with a quick google search.

I think there's a lot of people are uneducated on the subject so they go to what they've been told by mainstream media, parents and teachers.

I don't think there are many people who directly don't have jobs because of marijuana use. Just because there are lazy people who don't have jobs and smoke weed that doesn't mean it's because they smoke marijuana. You could make the same argument for many things.

The topic was a question regarding the reason why marijuana was receiving so much negative feedback these days, which is opposed to the near absolutely positive feedback that it had a while ago.

There is definately something to discuss. You can give your jdeas why this might be happening, or you could instead tell me that I've made a mistake and that everything's the same, and why.

If a person doesn't know the reason, all he has to do is move on to the next thread.

Just because the thread has the word marijuana in it does not mean that the OP is asking for your stance on it.

This goes out to not just mine, but all the other threads out there.

The trend hasn't changed as far as I can tell, people are either more or less vocal about it.

It's pretty much how I remember it back in 2007, but I'm not positive (and I'm sure no one is).

Exactly what he said, but I'm baked right now haha. I've never had a bad smoking experience and I've been smoking for about 5 years now.

I think it gets a very negative media attention, there's a stigmata about it because of crimes and such committed which involve drugs, like robberies and murders etc. which often aren't fabricated and do involve drugs. I just think marijuana is classed under the whole umbrella of the "drug stigmata" when it's actually not very harmful at all.

I am fairly certain everyone claiming negative stigmata is wrong. If you look at the attitude towards marijuana usage has changed a lot over the last 2 - 3 decades.

That's mostly because a lot if not most people who smoke weed in Australia mix it with tobacco.

There seems to be an ignorance surrounding marijuana.
People who haven't tried it assume too much, and people who have/take it regularly seem keen to defend it (just stereotyping here).

Personally, I've never tried it, but, like many, I know people who take it. The thing is - most side-effects that people list aren't necessarily down to marijuana. An example is my next door neighbour was recently diagnosed with 'Parkinson's Disease' (le google it) and the doctors believe it was down to his history with drugs. But then again, he was also shot in the eye by a rifle, and beaten up frequently during his early years.
Another example is a friend's father had a history with marijuana, and was put in mental hospital because he developed schizophrenia - once again, you can assume it was down the drugs but it's never certain.

Anyway, tl;dr - don't assume you know everything about a drug just because you've heard people talk about it.

I've become less tolerant of marijuana recently because of the sheer number of people who use it and then shit on and on about it. People at my college constantly go on about how cool smoking weed it and how much fun it is and how I should try it and the number of threads about it on here just keeps going up too. I don't have a massive problem with it but there just seems to be this stupid attitude amongst so many weed smokers that everyone else finds it interesting too. I'm fine with people who muck around with it as long as they don't tell me all about it.

Cutting my dick off is better for me then shooting myself in the head. It doesn't mean I should be doing either of them.

I'm pretty sure cutting off your dick or shooting yourself in the head is a little too intense for this topic, as you'd have serious instant or quick side-effects from that; such as:

Serious loss of blood with the risk of death
    Death
Inability to have sex and/or urinate properly
    Mental Illness
Risk of going into a permanent coma and/or becoming brain-dead
    Temporary or Permanent Paralysis
Very expensive medical costs, if you live
    etc...

If you smoke a gram of marijuana everyday for a year you won't suffer any of the side-effects; you may become lazier, less responsible, an asshole, a bum, or you may be like the us responsible stoners who smoke weed occasionally and still pay all of our bills, save money, live healthy, treat our girl good and work our ass off.

It doesn't meant that if you smoke weed you are bad.. and you can get lazier, but still do everyday stuff without a problem, depends on the person itself.

It's the same idea though, which really irks me when people talk about this topic. They go "Oh well it's better for you then alcohol" which isn't an argument at all. If anything they are proposing prohibition, not the legalization of marijuana.

I don't see your point as towards Marijuana, because it's out of context. Regarding Alcohol and Cigarettes is out of context too, for all of those people that are trying to argue that point; but I see where you're coming from in regards to those people.

Bottom line is everything has positive and negative side effects, it depends on the person making the decision if the positive weighs out more than the negative. You may date the sexiest women in your area but at the same time she may be a raging bitch, which can be bad on your stress level and mental health if you're pissed all the time. Same applies to anything, depends on your ability to make a decision. I don't hate people that smoke cigarettes or alcoholics that's their own choice. I don't mind if people do drugs, doesn't involve me. I never really understand any Marijuana debate thread because it's always the same shit, people hate it or love it or just don't care at all.
