Kind of crazy?

I remember when halloween masks were 20m on the street and phats were 80-100m. I wanna know why people are willing to spend 100m+ gold on an easter egg (that does nothing) and then on top of that adding USD. Yes, I see it is an investment but an investment into WHAT? One day, admit it, RS will die. These eggs won't mean crap. Do you really think in 20 years an egg will be worth $2000 or something? Why buy it? Same with Phats and masks. They look cool, but still. 300m+$100 USD? Worth it?

 

For the same reason i blew $400 this halloween. To have fun.

Believe it or not some people arn't dirt poor and can afford to throw $100 at a game to have something nobody else does, just for "fun".

Pretty much, I work for the money I have, I deserve to spend that money how I please, If I'm some fat nerd somewhere and wanna spend 300-500m + $100+ Then I should be entitled to since I worked for that money.

Bottom line is its peoples own hard"not so hard" earned money, which if they wanna blow it on a game that will eventually die, then so be it =\

Personally I wouldn't Spend that much on a Phat.... Well Maybe

 

I remember like 2 years ago i had a chance to buy a purple phat for like 110m or something but instead I decided not too.. Not there like 500m and im broke. hmm

 

I'm not saying you shouldn't have the right, just saying what's the point? No one will even see a pumpkin or easter egg in your inventory.. Nothing will mean crap? I think there are levels of happiness. Don't say falling in love in life is equivalent to wearing a phat or having a little pumpkin in your inventory. People live life to find love and enjoy their life and make a difference. Don't turn this thread into a 'life doesn't matter in the end' thread, lol. It isn't that serious.

I'm asking what's the point though? Yay, I have an egg in my inventory that does nothing for me and no one will see. If you take away the 'investment' side, what's the point?

I'm well aware with working for money, lol. Not the point. Same thing with rich people with 10 million dollars, in my eyes it's still pointless to buy a ten thousand dollar shirt. Just because you can afford it doesn't mean you can't do better stuff with your money that will have a stronger impact on you or someone else.

Honestly, something like a game could mean something special to someone that might not to you.

I remember those days too. The prices go up obviously because there is more demand for the items. These items are discontinued, meaning no more of the set item will ever be released again, in turn meaning there is a limited amount.

I sorta wish Scythes could become tradeable, I'd probably end up coming back if this was the case...

 

It's not up to you to decide what makes other people happy. Period. To you love might seem a much bigger deal than a party hat. To someone else real life is just as absurd and pointless as runescape is.

It makes them feel good knowing they have the item. If you don't feel the same way then just don't buy it.

 

Then why the fuck are you calling it "crazy"?

 

Even if it's not an investment, anyone buying it and holding it for some amount of time will probably be able to resell it with minimal loss.

Hence, there's no real danger associated with the purchase and many people think it's worth it.
