Its a discussion board. Seems like they would have a hard time with "freedom of speech" being in the US constitution.

Lmao, was it a in-game mod or jagex mod lol?

If jagex wanted to stop cheating (or whatever they call it), they'd get their heads out of their asses and actually give people legit excuses for their mutes/bans.

Jagex mod's can't use msn with email addresses like that. It was probably just an email spoofer. They aren't allowed to contact you out of customer support using runescape related things (@jagex.com), and to my knowledge , there's no mod johnson. I don't even think they have personal domains, and if they did , it would be "@runescape.com".

It was probably just someone trying to play a trick on you.

The UK block isn't enough to stop them (come on. they're programmers - you have to assume they know what a damn proxy is.)

What is, is the fact that cheating sites will continue to exist in spite of everything. Perhaps the size of Sythe perpetuates more members, but in the end: there's a market for it. People who want to make and sell scripts, or trade on the blackmarket will find a place to do so (via google, at some hole in the wall if necessary), no matter how many sites Jagex shuts down. If they do try, it's their error: they're misdirecting their efforts.

The best way to shut this site down would be through more internal changes: better macro'ing detection, and associated IP bans. Closer "suspicious trade" inspection. etc. A re-work of the recovery system, to prevent recovs from ever being "unset", and instead merely changed. Scaring away members, instead of hunting the site itself.

Sythe has been around a long time. I'm sure if it were truly on the agenda, it would have been dones ages ago. It's just not worth the time for them to target sites, when doing so will merely scatter cheating - not diminish it.

Why would jagex use a proxy just to get on here? What exactly would coming on here accomplish? Sure they would have a knowledge of what a proxy is but they wouldn't intentionally come on this site. They keep everything they do legal to avoid losing member base for runescape ect.

I doubt they can do anything.

I think you underestimate curiosity. Whether through a proxy or some other means, I'd be surprised if they didn't at least drop in to get a sense of the site.

I'm not saying they'd waste their time trying to infiltrate or anything, but what better way of detecting macroing than knowing the programs, and then working out how to catch them? Or of gauging how big a problem macroing/mill selling actually is, than looking at the largest sites?

There's a lot of practical information Jagex could gain from Sythe, and I'm just saying - for its value, they'd be stupid to let an IP ban stop them.

Sythe must have talked with the host of sythe.org to make sure they are not fooled by jagex. Jagex don't really have anything to complain about. The priv servers maybe.

If Apropriate Proof Is Provided To Sythe's Servers ISP Then The Plug Can Be Pulled. Its As Simple As That. There Is No "Hacking" Invloved, Just Like There Is No Hacking Involved When Stealing RS Accounts Or Hotmail Accounts. Jagex WILL Keep Things Legal. Because They Are A Company They Have Far Worse Punishments When They Break Laws. The Size Of Sythe Is Not A Factor, Infact The Owners Of Sythes Servers Will Have Little Or No Input Into The Matter. If This Goes Through Then Jagex Will Go Directly To Sythes ISP And If The ISP's Lawyers Decide To Pull The Plug, Then Plugs Shall Be Pulled. There Have Been Far Many Larger Sites That I Have Seen Taken Down. Most Of Them Had No Warning WhatSoEver. So Dont Think Mere Size Matters Here. Sythe Is Tiny, Compared To Jagex.

Do You Really Think A Bunch Of Little Immature Kiddies Are Gonna Stop Them?

They will not proxy onto this site, because, when they do, they are breaking our ToS. And cannot take any action against us.

Edit: Sparq Please Do Not Talk Like This. It Is Really Hard To Read, And It Gets Rather Annoying After Time, Dont You Agree?

Edit2: Sparq. You think were all a bunch of immature little kiddies? Why dont you leave then?

They can sue us, but it would do no good, because the information that they got while they were proxying onto the site would be invalid. They wouldnt be able to use it because it was gotten by breaking our ToS.
