I body build and care about nutrition myself, but the only way protein can be bad for you is if you dont drink enough water. taking too much protein can cause a buildup of toxic ketones. these so-called ketogenic diets can thrust your kidneys into overdrive in order to flush these ketones from your body. as your kidneys rid your body of these toxic ketones, you can lose a significant amount of water, which puts you at risk of dehydration.
also, you cant just take a shitload of protein and expect to get big. you have to take in your good amount of carbs and other nutrients for energy. but if you are thinking about gaining mass, try to take in at least 1g of protein per lb of pure body weight (normal weight - fat), go up to at least 3000 calories a day, take a multivitamin, and a good hypertrophy split workout, and you should be good.
Wow, thanks for this. I actually was wondering myself as well =].
ok thx. cuz i body build a lot but atm im just trying to speed up my metabolism to burn off fat and just gain lbs in muscle. im 168lb atm and take about 120gr of protein per day. i also take nutrient pills to try to balance everything. how much fibre and calories do you think i should be having per day with the info i've given you above? i rly just wanna burn off a lot of fat, the muscles are the second objectives cuz im already muscular enough.
yes. it will eventually start causing internal bleeding if you OD on it.
Another problem with muscle proteins is as soon as you stop taking them and stop exercising, it turns to fat much quicker than if you build muscles without proteins.
