Is my internet speed fast or slow?

    I don't understand why my actual downloading speed seems much slower than the test. Is this normal, is this slow? I mean seriously, MP3s take around 1 - 2 minutes at least.

    This may be moved and if so.. plehz no infractions =)

    It's pretty fast, it's slower than mine, but still pretty good. I can't explain the differences in your 2 download speeds though.

    My internet fails. Can't get cable where I am

    mp3 file told me 2 min
    video clip 13 min
    and the other was ridiculous at 293min

    I have basically the same speedtest as you. but I download at 1mb/s.
    You were probably downloading from a bad host, to see your actual speed dl from megaupload.

    Meh, all is relative you know.

    But, its a lot faster than mine. I live like, on the edge of not being able to have internet, no idea why, I live just outside a big city.

    So mines like 2mb download 512 kb upload. -.-

    The download speed only indicates the rate at which you can recieve the files, not neccessarily the speed at which they are being uploaded to you.

    You have a decent connection, typical cable.

    Yours is about average. Mine is pathetic, about 30kbps download and 15 kbps upload.

    There are a few things you have to keep in mind...

    1. When you do a speed test using the closest server possible, you're going to get a great result. Do a speed test from Australia to New York City and you'll get different results.

    2. Just because you can download at 10mbps from a server 50 miles away doesn't mean you can download at 10mbps from a server 10,000 miles away in New York.

    3. You're in Australia. Horrid internet... =(

    I get around 65 MBS wireless connection. 110 when i'm plugged in directly to my router.

    That is how much i recieve anyway. i'm checking out this speedtest.net right now, i've never even heard of it. :)

    Yeah that tends to be the connection between your computer and router. Not the speed of the internet... I have a gigabit connection to my router but my internet is still only 25mbps.

    That upload is somewhat standard for U.S. home internet. Mine is around that here in New York...

    Don't get the intranet and the internet mixed up >>

    Upload speeds below 1mb are pretty normal, the average peorson doesn't utilize high uploads.
