Yes you should be 100% safe, as long as you can trust the user you are giving the id to.

You would definitely be safe to send Bogla that information. They are very trusted and have an amazing reputation that they wouldn't want to ruin over one person. Hate to say it, but you're insignificant in their big picture.
They ask for your ID so they have proof that your paypal account is not hijacked. They mostly need to see your name on a government issued piece of ID. Cover up sensitive information and you will be fine. This can be used against you if and only if you charge back your payment.

Moral of the story: don't be shady as shit and you'll be fine.

I'd refrain from giving your ID out. I'd just bite the bullet and purchase a low amount of gold at a weekly/biweekly rate, depending on the seller.

It is 100% safe, and in most cases (such as Divicasales) you can hide your photo, licence number, passport number etc.. We only require to see your address + name (which we can already see on the paypal receipt) - The reason we ask for these things is to avoid unauthorized chargebacks and fraud. The only people who can see your ID are the workers + bosses, I've never heard of a case of IDs being stolen or sold, so when it comes to giving large gold companies your ID, it is 100% safe.

Think about the consequences of a security breach when sending your ID. For that reason a watermark is important. Your ID number should always be hidden no matter what.

Why is everyone saying that it is 100% safe? It should not even be considered safe. You're not safe by giving people that kind of information; it is highly unrecommended and a massive hazard on your personal security. The companies that are requesting this information might be considered trusted because they manage thousands of customers, but they're eligible of being hacked or having an employee/owner rage scam accounts. You are placing your confidence in their security, owners, and staff.

People tend to follow the herd and give out this type of information without considering the consequences. It is very unwise to perform these standards, and you're better off finding trusted individuals on Sythe. There are other methods of securing transactions. I would suggest converting your funds to BTC or finding alternative methods of purchasing your goods.

As said above, cross out your SSN and put a watermark over it. You'll be 100% save in general. Just use common sense and don't use fishy gold stores.

I don't get why people are afraid to give out their ID anyways. It's not like if you blank out your SSN that a picture of an ID is use full in anyway. Let alone to get anywhere you need to have all the pages of an ID or the front AND back. It's not like u can order something online using a picture of an ID with parts scribbled out. You can't verify a paypal account or any other online wallet because it needs to be all clearly visible and you need to have a picture of the front and back. I can take that people would be afraid of getting doxed i guess? But i never understood the whole doxing fear. There are about 50+ people on the internet who know my real name, address, phone number, schools i went to, so on. If you do nothing wrong, what have you got to hide from? It's not like someone is gonna come to your door and punch you in the teeth. Sure handing out a picture of your ID back in 2012 wasn't safe at all because back then you could even use a partial ID picture to make and verify a paypal, skrill or neteller account. That all changed now. I'm by no means saying you should just hand out your ID picture to anyone who asks for it, but to gold sites (who are reputable) why wouldn't you? Taking a picture of your credit card or bank card is way more dangerous than taking a pic of your ID with parts scribbled out.

It's probably safe, but I still refuse to give pics of my ID to anyone (exceptions would be PP and bitstamp). I like privacy and I keep my things private. Don't feel like you have to give your ID anyways, you can probably find someone who will trade you without an ID.
I understand that gold shops have to take many precautions, but I would never give my ID to any, I'd rather not trade.

Most of the people on this thread who are telling you it's safe are gold sellers/people working for gold sellers so there's obvious inherent bias. It's never safe to give out your ID. Like @Moes said, a simple security breach or a vindictive employee could easily leak your information. It's much simpler to deal with those who do not require ID or just use a different form of currency.

Most if not all sellers require ID when it comes to selling gold for currency that can be chargedback, can you recall one instance of ID's being leaked when it comes to rs gold buying?

Ok let's assume it hasn't happened at ALL (which is highly unlikely because I'm sure somewhere out there a gold site has had a security breach or leaked information and not made it public). Does that mean it won't happen in the future? It's much safer to just use a different form of currency than to hand out your ID to strangers on the internet.

Only because it hasn't occurred yet, doesn't mean that it won't happen. Not all gold sellers require your ID, you can find plenty of trusted people on this website that don't require it. PlayerAuctions doesn't even require ID when purchasing Runescape gold and they have some of the biggest sellers in the industry.

When you're applying to obtain a new credit card, they use your SSN in the verification process to give you access. Overdrawing the accounts by the maximum amount to purchase online goods, then ditching your information leaving you with horrible credit and a hard case to prove your innocence. On the same topic of credit cards, I believe certain companies require SSN to recover an account and don't request security questions. They could dox you and figure out more information, then use your identity to redirect college refunds to a new payment method.

It can help people file unemployment and reap the benefits.

They can steal your tax refund.

There are thousands of scams associated with social security numbers, and it's famously known. Do you believe identity theft has became common knowledge without it being an ongoing issue? If anything, it is a growing problem because of the internet. Only because it has not happened to you, doesn't mean it isn't in existence.

It's sorta safe. The database could always get hacked, but I assume with Bogla's funds invested in the safety a quite skillfull hacker would need to be used to do this. If the database would get hacked though it could be harmfull, but the risk is very low.
