Is it okay to cheat on an Exam/Test?

I've done this many times, however never felt right, i believe it is a victimless crime, it's not like i'm competing against other students so that my mark makes any difference on their marks. However if you think big picture when I finally do graduate i'm going to get the same degree as those whom worked their ass off to get and will be competing when it comes to finding jobs etc...

Underage gambling is wrong but being a liar and a cheat is fine? Your morals are fucked mate.

 

I've never cheated on a test and I never will, because when the time comes in your future job you may be tested on those skills/intelligence and fail badly.

 

I used to cheat on my grade 9 french tests and my grade 11 Italian tests but the whole class cheated as well lol

 

Difference between victimless crimes and one that affects allot of people.

 

Sometimes, if you have to ask the question, it's quite likely not okay. This is one of those times.

If nothing else, cheating isn't a victimless crime because the cheater is the victim of his or her own cheating because falling back on cheating prevents the learning that he or she should be doing legitimately.

 

The victims are those who achieve the grades without cheating: e.g., botting is not a victimless crime because it devalues the work of those who got their stats without botting.

 

You said yourself its not a victimless crime. You'll get a degree you don't deserve devaluing the work of others and increase they competition for jobs.

 

Would you want a new surgeon who cheated his way through med school operating on your heart?

 

You agree with the underage gambling law, but wouldnt you agree that cheating on a test which is breaking a rule/law, obviously one shouldnt cheat. You didnt give a reason to why you were against underage gambling except saying it left a bad taste in your mouth. And here you are saying cheating never felt right. I am assuming you think cheating is okay, correct me if Im wrong, because why would you cheat if you dont think it is okay.

At least in underage gambling you know the risks you take, and either way you deserve what you had coming because you ultimately took the risk(s). Cheating makes you an undeserving person, taking the grade rank someone else should have got. The person supposed to be in the top 10? Yeah he is 11 now thanks to you, and thats a difference maker. This is an example.

Im with ppwiz on this, your morals are fucked if underage gambling that has no effect on you leaves a bad taste in your mouth and you cheat regardless that it doesnt feel right to you. Not sure why you would ask this except you are looking for a reason to make yourself feel better when you cheat.

In fact this somehow feels like underage gambling, where a hs student takes the risk to cheat and getaway, possibly being held back a grade or punished. But ultimately in the end, if you succeed, it is not over. It would cause a chain effect, you take up one of the few positions in a company, where someone else would have gotten it if your grades werent as good. Sort of like cutting in line.

 

You don't realize what you're doing in the short term.

But in the long run, cheating will make you unsuccessful in your life. So make sure you're honest regardless of whatever you perform in your exams.

 

No I think it's a question of morals, I have never cheated. I had a programming class in college and my friend was very smart in it and he was a lefty and I coulda cheated off his tests. He even blatantly told me to copy his work, because he knew it was right. I couldn't do it I decided I'd rather fail than cheat.

 

yeah i cheat i dont care. I'm not going to be using some of the functions im learning in grade 11 academic math in my future as a lawyer -.-

 

Its okay but remember if you cheat your cheating yourself, if your prepared to cheat a test, your prepared to cheat at other things in life to make your life easier. Don't do it, revise, do your best but don't cheat it always catches back up with you one day.

 

That's why I can't do it. I feel morally it's wrong. Just like once a cheater always a cheater.

If the test/exam is for anything medical, or anything that will have a directimpact on the well-being of others then no, it's not moral whatsoever, be it nursing, medicine, veterinary etc.

For me personally - I have never cheated on an exam, and have no intention of doing so. I paid £6,000 a year for my undergrad degree (3 yrs) I'm paying £10,000 a year for a MSc at the moment, why do I want to NOT learn from it?

My example is my own, and I realise it doesn't apply to compulsory education.

 

If you're in high school right now, you are competing with other students for Valedictorain. You are a cheat if you cheat, and deserve to fail your class.

 

This is actually really interesting considering here in melbourne where i have been raised no matter what university/highschool you are in no one really cares if anyone copies/hands in previous work, It's a real 'don't give a shit' topic for us so this is actually very interesting.



Also don't go for a personal attack calling me a cheat etc, you are on a black market website that's sole initial purpose is to cheat on a game -.-....

 

A game that has no effect in the life of others as cheating in a class does.

Only the people who cares are the people that studied for it, and they would be looked down on if they expressed it usually. Its come to the point where you all believe no one cares, but if someone did you would treat them differently for giving their opinion, and it would look like an attack. Not sure what youd expect or seen when someone who cares gives their opinion. "Hey please dont cheat, I studied hard and it gives less value when you all are cheating and taking the easy way". Anything along those lines will be laughed at.

I hope it wasnt me you thought was going for a personal attack, I dont and shouldnt really care if people cheats as long as it doesnt affect me in any way.

 

Looking holistically at the situation, you are screwing a lot of people over in multiple ways.

Scholarships you don't deserve.
Teacher's respect you don't deserve, they may give you better mark than deserving students based on "respect", which could have been given to legit students.
