    Basically, that ^

Cheating is wrong mate, and if you have done it already, then you might need to review a lot of stuff before being able to progress with your life

I think i should also state that i've never cheated on a Uni test, i've just been given previous assignments when doing my own, to just pretty much use as a guide, which again still felt wrong hence the thread... The only tests we have are finals which are not possible to cheat on.

If you're going to do that, at least do the assignment on your own first. Yes it will take longer and you may get a few mistakes. When you're done, compare and see where and how you went wrong. At least that way you will learn and know whether you can, and whether you are deserving, do it. This should take out the part where it feels wrong if it bothers you that much. But dont expect it to take all the weight off your shoulder.

It's still technically cheating. If the teacher doesnt give you the answers in the end and explain it to you, which I doubt, Id put that more in between. Id say it is something along the lines of self studying. Some would find it easier to learn like that depending on how your uni teaches. Some will see this as wrong depending on how much assignments count towards the end grade, and some would say it is in the gray area. I dont know if anyone could see it as right though, which is also why I told you not to expect all the weight lifted off.

At least in the end you will know whether you are deserving or not. Whether you have learned something or not. But thats also what tests are for. Now my views may be different from others because the way my uni taught us.

In my uni they gave us a chance to correct our mistakes. Grades were fail, pass, merit and distinction. Distinction being the highest so everyone wanted the D. Although I dont remember exactly how, if you made a mistake on the pass questions, you dont qualify for a merit, but you would have another chance at correcting your mistake. Prior to the deadline students could talk to the professors 1 on 1 and discuss a few questions.

I don't doubt that it's technically cheating, therefore your first point doesn't make sense, if i'm going to correct my mistakes and leave the correct ones i attempted doesn't that mean im just affirming what i already know? I use it as a guide for like what to do, i can't copy/paste it nor have it anything similar unless it only has one answer..

The facts point that it is cheating, but I don't believe it is strong enough to convince everyone that it is cheating, simply because universities arent all the same. I say it is cheating in my uni because that means you know you will have a better chance at say a merit. Because we take our own notes in class, and research it ourselves. It means more in my uni to cheat. In some unis assignments may be too insignificant to even call it cheating, because their plan of giving you assignments may be for a different reason.

You use it as a guide to be spoon fed basically. Researching/reading to get the answers is different than looking at someone's work who did all the researching themselves. You are getting their idea and changing words around, it isn't your idea. And as I said, it might make you feel better if you already get them all right, proving to you that you deserve it. If it is an assignment for something completely different, and you use it as a guide to show how to express your answer for example, that is a different story. But having the answers in front of you, the idea spoon fed to you, rather than researching and reading it yourself is unhealthy. You would end up too dependent. If you get a job that requires something like reading or researching, you wont have a guide where the questions were already answered so you can get an idea from it. It kills your creativity, you wont always have someone/something to depend on in the future.

Is it okay to cheat on an Exam/Test?

Pretty easy answer to this question. No, it isn't okay to cheat. Cheating inevitably puts peoples lives at risk. Imagine you're in a hospital in a serious condition. You're being treated by a doctor for your injury's, etc. Suddenly he freezes and doesn't know what to do. He only got his diploma because he cheated in his exams, you die due to his lack of knowledge. Obviously rather extreme, but it can happen.

Now with ^ being said, cheating shouldn't be aloud

I think it's alright to cheat in an exam every once in a while, but not all the time.

Obviously it's not okay, it defeats the purpose of the test.

Is it okay to cheat on an Exam/Test?

If its a test that does no harm, why cheat in the first place? Pass or fail, what harm can it do? And if it does no harm, why would he even create this thread if the answer is that obvious? Why even go through the risk of getting caught to cheat in an exam that is as insignificant as you put it?

Then again op didnt make any sense at first. He stated exam or test, then last said he meant on take home assignments, not tests.

My last argument for the thread, hopefully. If it's a test, there is a reason schools give you a test, to test you. If it doesnt count, it is to show you what you dont know and what you should. If it counts, then it's something jobs would look at. And I dont really see a valid excuse to cheat on either. Unless you dont care about screwing others over or dont want to know your weaknesses. Now OP was talking about homework, gray area for my discussion. Some will say it is another way of "researching", obviously more efficient. Others will say it doesnt matter much, so why cheat? At least you will know your capability. Ill stay out of this as I dont believe I could convince both sides to stick with one.

General lazyness is my motive, i'm not cheating on something i don't know how to do, i just get help on something i already know how to do to speed things along. Cheat is probably misused by myself or very exagerated by you guys...

In my opinion I see cheating as wrong mainly because you are getting creditted for something that is not true. And at the end of the day you aren't learning anything if you cheat which can put you at a disadvantage when you go looking for a job and the employer notices you know way less than others with the same degree

If you understand the work, but forget something, then I'd say it's okay.

If you don't understand anything and cheat it can come back to bite you.
