Is getting plastic surgery okay?

Don't let others decide what you change about yourself. IMO if you want to do it, go for it. But if you are thinking about doing something "life changing", sit on it for 6-12 months and re-evaluate later on if you still want it. If you still want it 100% the same as 6-12 months prior, then lock it in.

I think you should consider all avenues before jumping into it... often its a mental issue that wont be addressed even after the change.

There are different societal pressures that may steer someone towards plastic surgery. The easiest example would be in some Asian cultures - people vying for 'Western' features and so getting double eyelid surgery and rhinoplasty are both very common.

That's not a good reason obviously but it all fits in with feeling good in your own skin. There will always be people that go overboard and are seemingly never satisfied - it's a mental issue and in some ways an addiction. People with those issues does not mean plastic surgery as a whole is not OK - just like people with gambling problems etc don't necessarily mean gambling is not OK.

Personal preference, I would never but wouldn't judge somebody if it made them feel better about themselves.

You'd probably regret getting it in the long term or have complications.

It depends on what you want to get done.

I'd ask for advice and direction here:
Plastic Surgery

I'd also spend a lot of time researching the surgeons in your area that are willing to go for the type of surgery you want. If it's something that's haunted you for your whole life, I'd say go for it. If it's just something you want slightly tweaked, I'd probably not but again it's your choice. I would discuss options with your local doctor first, they'd be able to give you guidance and advice.

All the best.
