You will want a laptop for the keyboard. Personally, I couldn't imagine using a tablet to take notes/type papers.

 

If you plan to buy a laptop for gaming and not school anyway, I'd advise against having two laptops and get the tablet if it is truly only for notes. I'm not much of a tablet guy myself but two laptops seems pointless to me and getting a laptop just for word processing, a $1500 one no less just doesn't seem like the best financial decision.
