Donno, why but i was thinking about this at school during double English class.

Where does internet come from? It comes from my ISP but, where do they get it?

If I have this all wrong please tell me....

Really the "internet" is just reading a bunch of code off hard drives, which is interpreted by your browser. The hard drives are stationed in servers all over the world. Really, to keep it simple, you are simple receiving data off another person's (or usually another web hosting company's) computer which acts as a server. It's like a massive network of networks of computers. It doesn't exactly come from your ISP, they simply set up and run the network that you use to receive information.

Yah the first network was started in like 1960 to share some army info and stuff.

 

Um didnt it start with ARPA or something? At least that what they teached me in school. (Or im mixing stuff up lol)

 

i learned in my school that its basicly just one big super computer.... it could be wrong....

 

What I find funny is when your at school people always say Internet like : "If you don't finish the research at school go home and use the Internet." Thats because most people don't know what FireFox and Opera ect. are. If they did they would say go home and look up information online. I know everyone here knows this but I like typing lol.
