Internet client problems

I'm having problems with Internet Explorer, Firefox, and any other internet client I open up. The problem I am having is when I open up Internet Explorer it refreshes over and over and over again not letting me do anything. With firefox it popsup over and over again just to the home page. I scanned using spyware doctor, and avg 8.0... Found Nothing. Can someone help?

May be use safe mode when using the internet broswers. Ask your computer manufacturer for assistance. Sometimes, you will gain solution from them.

Remove IE, and firefox should work. Change your homepage to a different website as it might be having errors reading it.

Other than that I don't know.

Well I had someone look at it, and apparently someone hacked my computer and fucked up things trying to get personal information and what not. Hopefully they didn't get anything because I am in a lot of trouble if they did.

1) You've already tried AVG so I'll suggest to also try scanning with Spybot and Ad-Aware.

2) Uninstall/Reinstall Internet Explorer/Firefox.

3) Optionally consider switching to Opera or Safari which I like both very much.

Opera is quite a nice browser, try that. Also try the new Firefox 3.

Perhaps this isn't a browser issue, can you ping google.com fine?
