Depends if you do it on f2p worlds only have to worry about making new accts. But you have to think, do the f2p community have as much money to spend I presume not. From my experience with running advertisers you can get a lot of mutes which can be annoying. May be worth it thought with the amount of trade you get from it.

They've probably invested a ton of money into a script that allows them to continually make new accounts and walk to various places and advertise.

That proves JAGEX is useless. they can easily prevent this as long as they really willing to do it.
most spammers shout in Grand exchange, and lumbridge, so just arrange GM and get them ban account immediately.
To some extent, jagex is reliable for those gold selling sites, its about market demand, if no place for players buy gold, lots of people would quit runescape, and jagex would lose benefit from selling membership from players and those gold farming accounts. so jagex would keep one eye open and the other one closed. :p

This is a line that most companies will not cross. Advertising / spamming in-game is without a doubt detrimental to the experience of the players. Players use the in-game chat system to meet new people and generally interact with other players. By spamming the in-game chat system, these websites are willingly disrupting the gameplay of the playerbase, including their own customers.

If you find these type of spammers annoying, then you should make sure to boycott their websites. You'll notice they're all Chinese companies.

Pretty sure most people (including me) just instantly figure those gold spammers are the same as the Youtube/phising spammers and just want to scam you. I never even noticed if they were legit or not because i have trained myself to block that shit right out. I've never trusted one spamming kid in the GE before i'm not about to now lol. Useless advertising IMO makes you seem shady as f.

I'd never surf to a website advertised ingame, let alone attempt to buy gold. What they're doing is only annoying and putting themselves in a bad daylight.

But then again if it didn't work, why would they keep advertising ?

Worst advertising method I've ever seen. Messages aren't clear and players are likely to think it's a phishing/scam.

I tried it on both F2P and P2P with a very good script and it wasn't really effective. Players often sent abusive PM's ingame like "scammer/hacker/f**k off" etc etc.

Even when i had somebody replace the spam accounts every 5 minutes, it didn't bring a significant amount of leads.

Rsmalls probably do it just because they can easily, and china based sites have been doing it for 10 years now
