Incident At My School

I'd take that as a compliment.

This is ridiculous, He's looked at as a criminal for drawing the letter 'L' on a student's forehead.

Yeah, that is a little drastic, but I suppose professionalism should be imminent in the mind of a teacher and that isn't really a good way to go about it. I don't think he should get fired or anything too serious.

 

This story doesn't require some kind of news report. This action taken by the teacher could be disparaging towards the student even if it was a light 'joke'. Yes, I believe the teacher should be castigated somehow, agreeing with the parents, but why is there news about this? Plenty of more severe incidents happen at school all the time, just this last school year our male PE teacher attempted to have sex with a female junior.

Really it depends on the situation in the classroom. Sure it could be a harmless joke, but again we weren't able to witness the act. Seventh graders are, what, thirteen years old? At that age you're extremely self-conscious and marking a kid with "L" in front of the class doesn't boost confidence. What if this person was having suicidal thoughts? Would this incident help him?

Not to mention how the teacher was conducting himself in the classroom. I'm sure this school wouldn't have been happy if a video of the incident was released. That video would represent the school and obviously enrage the rest of the district. It was unprofessional no matter how you look at it.

You all can say, "Oh we've had a lot worse pulled at our school" but that doesn't make this right. You also have to take into account the age differences along with levels of maturity.

 

The teacher is in the wrong. He should not have done that at all. He is supposed to TEACH these kids, not humiliate them and make them feel like shit.

I hope he is reprimanded as seen fit.

 

People are such pussies nowadays. So what, he drew an L on his forehead. Most people would shrug it off and get over themselves, not make a fuss about it.

 

This is nothing. One of my teachers told our class that if she had a gun should would kill us all. (We all knew she was joking, so no one went and ratted her out.) And another teacher told one of our classes that she thinks we are all worthless and won't amount to jack shit.
And yet another teacher told our foreign exchange student (he was from Germany) to go back to his hitler loving country where he belonged.
The teachers at my school can get by with this because my school has a MAX of 250 students.

 

Your teachers should have been fired the instant those were said. The one threatening to kill you should have been arrested.

 

Things work much differently in a small community when all the students are family friends of all the teachers, when everyone knows everyone else personally, no one takes anything like that seriously.

 

Aw crap, poor kid. He's going to get crap grades and shit now...

 

Or you could quit over reacting and realize that they were joking around.

This is a prime example of what the world has become. Everyone is to sensitive.
