So I've been going out with my girlfriend for a month, and I'm not into it like she is. I have known her since I was in diapers and we were best friends until we started dating.. but now that i've started dating her, I've come to realize she's not the one for me.. She's considerably shorter than me (I'm 6'4 and she's 5'1) so it's awkward there. But what I found out is that she's a nerd/super religious. Now I'm not being mean or hating on super religious people (I believe in God and all that) but she takes it to the EXTREME. I knew she was religious but when I started dating her I realized that she's in all these church groups, the band, goes to every last meeting the church has, everything.. Now I was fine if she went to that but when she starts posting stuff like 'i'm worshipping HIM on halloween instead of the devil' on facebook/twitter.. that's when I stepped back and said 'woah'.. She posts all this religious stuff on FB and on twitter too.. Her parents are freaking crazy.. I got her home late like 10 minutes and I was given a whole speech AND SHE'S ALMOST 18.. They won't let her live the normal teenage life either (no car til like 20, stuff like that)..Basically I've been wanting to break up with her but then again when we're together, I kinda like it and don't wanna break up but I kinda do..

She doesn't have many friends and the ones that she does are mainly guys which is also suckish for me. She goes to a different school too. She also never hangs out with anyone really.. like the occasional weekend she would hangout with someone but mainly stay home and study or something.. but that changed when I started dating her, she was always texting me stuff and making plans. Then she will send me texts like "I LOVE YOU BABEEE" and stuff like that.

So she lives a bit away from me and I only see her on the weekends which is also a let down..
Now her birthday is coming up, and I was going to break-up with her but when I realized her birthday was this weekend I'm thinking "I can't break up with her this close to her birthday".. so then I realized she's already bought my christmas gift.. so now I feel like I'm stuck dating her until Christmas.. then I realized my birthday is just after christmas (basically mid-january) and she plans ahead so she'll go ahead and get my birthday gift around christmas time so I'll be stuck dating her until my birthday but then valentine's day is coming up two weeks after that so I feel like I'm stuck dating her until valentine's day but I just want my space.. I kinda want out of this but I want advice and other opinions.

Now another thing i wanna highlight is the fact that I have known her forever as mentioned earlier.. But my family is friends with hers and like my sister is best friends with her sister and I mean it's chaos. Our families have known each other forever and it's just bad. I feel like i'd be letting someone down if I back out of this, and I would like to back out but I mean it's just a bad position for me. And to top things off about her driving etc like her parents won't even let her get braces (not because of price but because her other sisters didn't get them [BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T WANT THEM] so she can't get them and her teeth are a little messed up)..

I feel like she's clingy too.. like she's always texting me and when this random girl texted me the other day she went nuts and wanted to text her back!!

I'm kinda afraid of posting this since she is a computer tech and she'll always be on her laptop and she'll do alot of browsing so I'm nervous about this because she might see this.

Don't lead the girl on and hurt her, just let her go easy. Your happiness comes before everyone elses.

 

The longer you leave it, the harder the break up will be. Being just friends wont hinder you buying each other gifts, as you said you've been friends since you were in diapers. I'm sure if you explain about being at a different school and the fact you have different beliefs, you just don't think you're compatible that way. Don't make yourself unhappy by prolonging it and feeling sorry for her, sometimes things just don't work out and that's part of dating. You can still be friends, not all break ups need to end horribly. Good luck anyway in whatever you decide to do - let us know how it goes.

Family decided to build a barn and do all this other huge projects so like I have no free time anymore and it isn't fair to you.. So then I said I'm sorry and then I changed my relationship status.. and anyways before I changed the status I saw that she had read it and never replied so I went ahead and changed it.. feel like I got a burden off my back but I will miss some parts of it but for the most part it is what it is

Exactly what this guy said, it's not you it's me is such a cliche. Anyhow, if she read it but didn't respond she may not take it well, and if you've known her as a friend for that long you might want to make sure she's not taking it too badly.

If she removed you as a friend then she is obviously not happy.
The fact that you broke up over text is also a big no no. If it's a mutual break up over text, then MAYBE it's okay.

I'd seriously go over there, and talk to her. She won't want to talk to you, but force her to. She'll thank you for doing it later on.

At first, when you said that you were free, I thought you both decided to break up. But when it was done by text, without a response from them, I'm sure they will see it the wrong way. Heck, you didn't even have to tell me you wanted out, I'd know you wanted out and were making a reason if I saw what you messaged her.

Still better to talk to her, confront her. Her family is friends with yours, you can't run away forever.
