You think it's acceptable because the animal 'doesn't feel pain'?
Well, i'll have you know, Mr Animal Expert that the victim of the bullet does not always die instantly.
Hunting is UNNACCEPTABLE when not being used for crude, but necessary survival. Anyone who hunts animals are weak people.
You should tell the alligators, snakes, and other meat eating animals to stop hunting other animals because it brings them pain..... All those animals are weak.
I respect your views finn and s3xpert, but I feel completely different. I myself, am a hunter. Now, there are some people out there who are like your little conversation. They find it amusing to kill the animal, being in control and having so much power in their hands. Then there are other people who are "rednecks" and hunt because "I reckon' I like carryin' my shotgun 'round and shootin' anything that moves." But I am neither of the two. I hunt, and when I kill a deer, I use it. I have the meat processed into burger, sausage, butterfly steaks, or whatever else I could want at the time. Every time I get meat processed I donate part of the animal to Hunters For The Hungry. It is a non-profit organization that provides venison to the needy. Everyone has seen Bambi right? The classic Disney movie about the deer. Well, in case anybody hasn't, it's a movie based on the life of a fawn as he goes through life. It is anti-hunter; you get to see Bambi's dad die as hunter's shoot him. Everybody automatically feels sorry for Bambi because he's just a small little deer, now without a dad. Well written Walt, well written. Naturally it has turned people anti-hunter because they think whenever we go out we're out to kill some little deer's mother or father, or even a deer like Bambi himself. How many times have you heard something like "killing the little bambis." I don't know about you, but I hve heard that many times. The thing is, legit hunters like myself and the people I hunt with, don't kill fawns. It is completely useless to kill fawns. For one, it won't help to control the deer population because the fawns don't reproduce until a little later. So basically, you're harvesting an animal that won't make any more, when you should be harvesting one that will make more. Second, (at about 6 months old; during hunting season) they weigh about 30-50 lbs. After you take out bones, hide, and everything else uneatable, you wouldn't get a lot of meat. Sounds like a waste to me. I harvest mature deer for multiple reasons. They provide a good amount of meat that, when frozen, will last at least at least a year in my house. Harvesting mature deer will also keep balance. Balance in the deer population, and balance in the deer herd. As mature deer die, other deer age up, and new deer are born. Having a surplus of a certain age will cause bubbles in the population. Say you go out and kill all the 1.5 and 2.5 year old does. If you don't kill any other deer, the mature ones will die out in a few years, but when the 1.5 and 2.5 year old deer were supposed to be around 3.5 and 4.5 years old, they won't be. Those deer were killed, preventing them from reproducing, reducing the population in the herd by too much. That's the reason for harvesting mature deer.
So in conclusion, I don't think hunting is bad or immoral unless you practice it wrong. There are some who know the right way, and some who know the wrong. Unfortunately, it's the wrong way that makes public news so most people get the wrong ideas about hunters and how they are.

Fiddle, don't you understand, animals are basically 'programmed' to behave like that.
Humans are not, we have emotions, and do not act utterly by instinct.
For this reason I said hunting animals is acceptable when used for survival, but it is really put to dispicable use by greedy, pathetic people like yourself,
who lead lazy lives of leisure with a stuffed and mounted gazelles head on their sitting rooms wall. What a trophy indeed.
''Oh, how did you get that?''
''I shot it myself.''
''You should be so proud, it didn't stand a chance did it?''
''No. hahahahahha.''
Pah.
