I work in cyber security and server management much like Mitnick Security or SAIC and we normally get shit like this on a day to day basis.

The Deep Web is risky for two reasons:
    1) The Deep Web is used as the worlds largest collection of pedophilia material and largest group of target-able American pedophiles. If you browse and click on a "trap" you are liable to being charged as a sex offender in most places in the world.
    2) The users on the Deep Web don't like you. I can't say that hackers make up a majority of the Deep Web, but I'd say quite a few of them do. Lots of them went to HackBB and the like after 4chan started to get "newfaggy" or they are from hacking prone foreign nations (Somalia, Russia, China)

Search engines cannot find encrypted pages. Google only scans for non encrypted pages and does not use a Tor decryption.

    Yes, that would work.

    You're not serious...

Anyways, I have no experience ordering from the deepweb but to be honest, I would stay away from the whole idea. Using the Sythe principal: If you feel worried to partake in any "trade", then you should probably back off.

How trustworthy is the Deep web?

ITT: "security experts" who read about the deep web and silk road on wikipedia suddenly know everything

What makes you think a search engine can't find encrypted pages? A search engine accesses web pages in the same manner you and I do, save for the automation. If you mean pages through servers accessible over tor, then you are right, but remember that Tor's encryption exists only between nodes. An exit node has access to any and all unencrypted data that passes through.

Stop pulling numbers out of your ass. There are over 170k registered users on SR right now, and you are saying half of the people who bought something have been arrested? You realize that the worst that happens to the people who buy and sell there is that their packages get stopped by customs on international orders? Yeah, they have drug dogs for marijuana and cocaine (US), but guess what? There is way more than just weed and crack there. You think they have drug dogs for amphetamines or mdma? NOPE.AVI.

Again, wrong. Using a PO box is a very bad idea because you need federal documents that prove your identity before you are legally allowed to purchase one in the US. A better solution is to use a shipping method that does not require signing (ie: most) so that you cannot be blamed for receiving the package. Signing for it or receiving it at a PO box is basically telling law enforcement "Hey guys! I bought this shit online and I want you to look at it!" And what's wrong with buying illegal substances off the internet? Refer to my previous paragraph.

NOPE.AVI. SR is only accessible over Tor. Your original IP address does not matter when browsing SR.

You can't even access it without Tor.

Everyone in this thread, please stop giving advice if you've never bought from SR. One day, an idiot (ie: the average user) is going to read your advice, follow it, and end up getting raided by the DEA.

Asking whether the deep web as a whole is legimate is an impossible question; deep web users provide lots of services with varying legitimacy. On the whole, drug sales are probably relatively safe compared to other deep web markets (hit men, stolen vehicles, etc).
