How To Make Anyone Like You

This is a technique I read in the book "How to Win Friends and Influence People" by Dale Carnegie a book everyone on sythe should read. This is a technique that I use in practically every conversation and I have made many life long friends this way.

Well people care about themselves don't they? And they care about there interests so much more then they care about your interest right?

So when talking to people we mostly think about ourselves and what we have to say but if you actually take the time to become interested in what the other person has to say you'll notice thats its really worthwhile.

The first thing you need to do is find out what the person is interested in. You may already know what they're interested in but if you don't its shouldn't be hard to find out, ask they questions like "What did you do today?" or "Whats on your mind?".

For example lets say you find someone who is interested in Halo. What should you talk to them about? Yourself and how much you love runescape? Of coarse not they couldn't care less. Talk to them about halo ask questions like "Do you play online?" "What rank are you?" How long have you played Halo?" you will see that they will be thrilled to answer these questions.

Lets give another example. Suppose you mete someone who plays the guitar. Talk to them about guitar, ask them questions that they would want to answer, like "How long have you been playing?" and "What songs do you know?". You'll have a very interesting conversation that will most likely last for a long time.

When you talk though it has to be genuine, care about what they have to say if you talk and your not actually interested they will see through that. When the other person is talking don't do anything other than listen and look them in the eyes.

Well you may be thinking why should I care about what other people have to say, I have plenty of friends. Well you can go around talking about yourself all day and you will realize that people don't appreciate that, and people won't care at all about you if you only talk about yourself but if you take a little time out of your life to not be a selfish hog people will become interested in you. When and where should you do this? Anyplace at anytime again you'll find people to be more pleasant and people will be willing to do a lot more for you.

This guide is common sense and is easy to do but what is not common sense is the rewards of using it which are:

You'll have more interesting conversations and more friends. People will like you people will go out of there way to help you. You will be more popular. Your parents will respect and trust you more.

That was actually pretty hard to read, IMO... Didn't work for me, btw.

It's weird, because my parents got me that exact same book one time...

If you needed a book to tell you that, you're retarded.

 

Very few people use this technique and believe me it does wonders. Its hard for me to explain to you unless you try it. Try it and then please post back.

 

Please, stop telling people to "try it" before you embarrass yourself. It's intuitive to anyone over the age of 6 - literally, it's a developmental stage in normal psychology to recognize a frame of reference (and focus of conversation) beyond yourself.

Anyone who hasn't realized this, has already failed at life.

Well sure its simple and practically everyone knows it if you take time to think about it. But few people actually use it.

What do you got to lose next time you see one of your friends go up to them and talk to them about there interests.

Well then something need improvement.

Ya I should put it there but then less people would see it.

Using this technique is one of the reasons you and me are good friends :-D

Anyways, if not an educational read(as some ^ selfish people need), this would be an interesting read. I have always given the courtesy of listening to my friends problems, interests, etc. just as they have listened to any of mine. This behavior goes deeper than everyone is thinking it to be. Tis why everyone is knocking your guide without giving it a second thought of picking up the book or even trying the method in the guide.

Yeah obviously this works, but I could barely read the guide because of all the GRAMMAR MISTAKES!! Spell check and proofread for God's sake.
