Choosing a web-cam
Webcams can range from a basic model for around $30 to ones that contain a motion sensor for around $350 or so. Most mid-priced models come with a microphone install. Decide on what this camera will be used for and choose accordingly.
Step one: Go to a online shop like www.ebay.com.au or go to your local shop and buy one.
Reading Instructions
You may find this part pointless, but in the long run it will help you if somthing goes wrong. Saves your a lot of headaches.
Step one: Open the box and pull out the instructions and read away...
Installing the web-cam
Before installing I highly recommend you to backup your hard drive. This will help for a speedy recovery if anything goes wrong with installing.
Step one: Install the webcam software. Before deciding to install the disc that came with the camera, check the Internet for an updated version of the software and download that if available. Use www.google.com to search for the updated version.
Using it
The best part!
Step one: Plug in the webcam. The software should give a prompt at the appropriate time. Cameras are usually installed with a USB cable. If installed correctly, the computer will acknowledge so by popping up a message saying it can see the new device.
Step two: Log on a instant message program. If you don't have one download msn here.
Summary
Enjoy talking to your friends with web-cam. Also if I get any comments like "OMFG YOU NOOB, everyone already knows this!" I will report you for spam. Other then that all other comments are welcome! Thanks for reading.
