For most of you XP users you will know that you can't delete the recycle bin icon on the desktop using normal methods such as 'Delete'. I will show you how to remove it so you can have a clean icon-less desktop.
Compatability: Windows XP + 2000. Vista needs clarification along with Windows 7.
Go to Start > Run, then type in 'gpedit.msc'. It should bring up a window called 'Group Policy'
Click on the arrow next to 'Administrative Templates' to open up a new branch, and click on the folder 'Desktop'. Click on 'Remove recycle bin icon from desktop', right click on it and select 'Properties'. Enable this feature, apply / click ok and close 'Group Policy'.
Refresh your desktop and voila! Clear desktop!
