I've got 14M gold on my toon and was wondering how much junk I could get off it, so I wouldn't have to add any more $$$ with a phat's street price if I wanted to get one

Junk is used when you're selling something worth more than GE, not buying

'Buying junk' gets you USD. So 14m would get you like $5? Idk the market atm.

 

if thats the case why have i seen threads were ppl sell 2b worth of junk for 200$ when people sell 1m for 1$?

i'm kinda lost, it seems cheaper than rsgp to buy junk instead for USD

 

1m=0.15-0.25 in junk trading multiply it by 14 gives u 2.1 - 3.5 usd

 

so if i wanted to buy a red phat could i get it for 300$, 250 for the phat and 50$ to cover the in-game price?

 

no.... look junk is worthless... people pay real life money for other people to buy it off them because in most cases it will drop rapidly in price and eventually become worth nothing. if i have an item that is worth 1m in game and in 1 week it will be worth 0gp and it is impossible to sell the item in the game, wouldnt it make sense that i would pay you to buy it off me for 1m before its worth nothing? that way i am left with 1m (which doesnt drop in price) and you are left with 0gp.. but on the bright side of things you have the real life money i paid you to take it

When you see a thread that says "selling 2bil junk 200$" it means that someone is going to pay someone 200 USD to buy their 2bil junk with RSGP, so instead of having junk that may be useless, they get the rsgp. They are not transfering anything to your account.

Yes, because there are people out there that want the money instead of rsgp, so they trade their rsgp for the junk that people are selling. The people with the junk add irl cash to it, so that the trade is fair. It is not easy to junk trade the junk away, and most people CBA (like me), so the just sell it to junk buyers, so that they have normal cash again. simple

and people sell junk with partyhats and other rares, because they need to get rid of that junk, and partyhats are almost impossible to get off the GE. So their price has gone up (not by rsgp, but their GE value at market price + the junk that they trade with the phat.)

Make a difference between stable junk(broodoos, addy p arrows,...) and merched items.. oak roots for example.

The price of merched items will continue to drop untill it has reached around it's original price.

Junk is often manipulated items from G.E
Air talismans for example had about 550% rise - making 100m worth of talismans to 550m worth of talismans.
When the clan starts dumping the item in G.E some people choose to pay somene else to buy their junk, so they dont have to work of getting rid of the junk.

For example:
Item X gets manipulated 200%
Player A that has the item X doesnt have any time to sell the junk in game.
Player A offers Player B to buy his junk while paying him $.
Making it Player B buys item X and gets $.

The ratio of junk trading is 1:1 - but theres no actual transfering, because both Player A and B gets something in return. Player B gets the manipulated junk (and cash), while player A gets rsgp.
Unlike transfering, where the buyer doesnt give anything back to the seller. You get 10m in cash without giving him any junk or item(s).

 

yes clearly there is no item worth 0gp, however i understand the concept and he doesnt so i was trying to make it blatantly obvious; the idea being you lose a ton of money but you gain real life cash
