I'm curious how some people have bots running 24/7? Don't you have to shut your computer down at some point?

I just run my bot and don't turn off my computer or the bot.. It's easy.

No, Desktop PC's can last for days, even months without being turned off and it will be completely fine. Not the case for laptops though, so, don't try it.

Been doing this on a laptop for almost 2 years; my laptop is fine.

Agreed. I run multiple bots on my laptop and it is fine, even after a year of 80% botting.

Same. However, I don't have a great cooling system so it does overheat often when i'm running 12+ bots at almost full capacity. I do wake up sometimes and the keyboard is hot :\

Botting 24/7 is incredibly stupid as it consumes you electricity so good luck with the bill. Many young persons just let their computers on without caring about the electricity bill that their parents receive

I pay the electric bill. It's low enough that I can afford to do it. Could anyone tell me more about a vps? How do they work, how much do they typically cost and such?

If I left my laptop on for an entire month, never turning it of, it would only raise my bill $5... and that's in comparison to not having it on at all for a month.

Just make sure you have a good cooler :) and you'll be fine, I didnt turn off my computer in months lol

You pay for VPS montly fee's and you can put like 3-5 Accounts on that vps to bot =]

A VPS is a safe bet, they're usually up 24/7. We have a couple of servers at the moment, and the uptimes on them are all 30 days~, we had a scheduled reboot before that.

I shut my computer down once a week to ever 2 weeks and often I don't even need to do that and I believe as long as you defrag\clean your computer you won't ever need to because that all cleans up the excess that gets dumped when you restart. Laptops often have a overheating problem so I wouldn't advice 24\7ing but yes as most said its via vps where they transfer you over to another computer while they restart their server so you won't have downtime.

About 18 months ago i decided to bot 99 Runecrafting on my main the long way taking around 3 months, I gave my desktop about 24 hours rest in total during those 3 months which was very stupid, a week after i hit 99 runecrafting my PC was acting the same and basically Fried my CPU and hard drive luckily it was under warranty still and has it fixed for free. I wouldn't advised doing it for more than 1 week 24/7, Desktops are built to stay on for long periods but not to long.

Just be sensible when botting and think about your PC

Yes, but you run like one instance of RiD which is a lite task compared to people pushing their CPU and GPU to the max.

You need to use the right bot and the right script to be able to run 24/7. Hit run and there it goes.

24/7 botting is technically a lie. You can bot for the majority of the time, but the 6h login takes around 2 minutes, and then RS updates close the bots, so it's technically not 24/7. I've not turned off either of my 2 laptops off for over 2 years now, only software restarts every so often.
