How did you discover RuneScape?

Im almost positive that Runescape did not go onto miniclip's website until ATLEAST early 2006, it didn't even do well in the ranking and club penguin took over.

So the most you could of seen it on miniclip was 6 years ago not 8.

Personally my friend showed me Runescape back in Year 7 of high school, around late 2005.

 

What i don't understand is how a game like club penguin took over, it's awful lol

a friend introduced it to me back in 2002. my first account had like addy sep and i was happy.. could not complain about my full rune and addy wep.

 

There was a huge craze, kind of like Pokemon in grade 4 and 5, and the word got out. Half the guys thought it was terrible and the other loved it and were talking about it every day.

I was about 10 or 11 when I found it and quit when I was 17 (last year). I don't play anymore and am in the process of selling my accounts, but I may keep one for rsgp selling.

Miniclip in 04 I believe

 

9 years ago, I needed someone to help me at tutorial island :'). I was stuck at the moment where you needed to prospect a copper ore.

 

Went to my grandma's house, a cousin of mine was there, and he was playing RuneScape.
Came home, made an account and was stuck on Tutorial island for about a week.
I was 8 at the time.

 

I remember when I was at my family, I saw my cousin playing.
I asked him what game is that. He said runescape.
One day later, I googled something like rescape and found something called battleon.
I enjoyed that game very much.
Like 2 years later two of my friends were talking about a wizard of level 20 who killed him.
So I asked them what they were talking about, turns out to be 'RuneScape'
This time I asked them to spell it and that is how it all begun.
The same year my cousin gave me his account with full rune (g) and an amulet of strength (t) and 200 yew logs.
Back in these days this was something unbelievably amazing.

 

Well considering Miniclip target audience is around 8-13 and Runescape is a 13+ game. As well as the fact Runescape is debatably a very complex and difficult game, especially for younger players, its not really surprising.

Miniclip is 99% non-mmorpg games, most aren't even multiplayer, so for a game like RS to pop up thats completely different to everything else, it sparked popularity for a few weeks/months then all the kids moved onto the next phase.

This of course being Club Penguin, simple, childish, no real objective other than to build an igloo, dance and talk to other kids, far more appealing to an 8 year old then farming cows for hides and selling them to the general store for 5gp each and thinking lumbridge is probably the whole game map.

 

I was in 6th grade and some kids were talking about it. They asked if i played. I was like yeah, im one of the best players and i have all the rare armour. But i had no idea what i was talking about. When i got home i made an account and bought gold. 6 dollars per mill! and told them my account was banned for trying to trim sombodys armour cuz i could really do it. and everyone else was scamming people. They believed me lol. Now im almost max! Going into senior year. I stopped in 8th grade. Then picked it up in 11th to bot, Heavily

 

I was about 10 or 11 years old and I remember I used to sometimes hang out with this kid who lived down the street in an apartment and was a few years older than me. I used to play stupid online games on sites like Miniclip and things like that, and one day he came over and said, "Man you gotta see this game I found, it's awesome."

It was RuneScape classic back then, so I created an account and instantly appeared in Lumbridge and began exploring the world, picking up items and attacking Goblins. I was fascinated with the game and the concept of a continuous, never-ending journey where you played a character and slowly leveled up your skills and grew stronger over time. It did not take me long to get a grasp of the game, and the friend who showed me actually quit & move on before he ever got very far in the game.

For him, it was a short phase. For me, it is a game that I've played on & off for the last 10 years

 

runescape was on minclip in 2004, i know this because that's where i saw it when i first started in 2004.

 

School friends played in the 4th grade so I made a account, had to get them to do the tutorial for me lol.
