I have played runescape since late 01, and I am still baffled by the various claims of someone selling a rune, dragon, Barrows, or DFS "pure". In the old days, someone was pure if the had 1 defense. Maybe we would let a 10 defense noob get away with calling themselves a black pure.
But apparently, the definition has changed, but to what, no one can really say. If one can use the term to refer to both 1 and 75 defense, then the term is ambiguous and does not really function.
Now days, a pure is defined by the method it uses, not by the levels it has. For exactly you get g maulers, gs'ers, obby maulers etc.
I still refer to a pure as being 1 Defence though.

Pures are the ones that stick to certain levels to use different items. E.g. If someone is 58 defence they can't call themselves a pure because they haven't gone for a specific level to get the item.

Pure: An Account thats One thing. Focuses on One thing , Everything Revolves around 1 thing..
E.g. 1 defence pure = 1 defence ONLY - Its purely 1 Defence!
45 Def = Zerker pure , Purely a Zerker
70 Def = Barrow / Ranked Tank pure...
56 attack 75 strength 76 def 63 prayer etc = Main...

a pure is just an acc that is trained to focus on high hits rather than defence,
this doesnt mean it has to be 1 defence it means it focuses more on strength, range or mage rather than defence, attack etc...
but in my opinion there should only be 3 lvls of def that are still consider pure
1 def
20 def - initiate pure
45 def - zerker pure
myself i much prefer makin pure accounts because i enjoy pking.
but i generally get to about 80 str/range with 1 defence then turn it into a zerker, not for any particular reason just for the fact i get bored with 1 defence

In all honesty, nowadays it's just to make an account sound better. I mean you'd rather call one of your accounts with 75 defense a "DFS pure" as opposed to a "main".
A pure in my mind and by most people's standards is an account with 1-20 defense. Some people have skewed the definition though.

A Pure used to be 1 Defence and 1 Prayer, no exceptions. Of course along with the game itself the In-game definitions also change.
Actually, pures can have 99 defense too. A pure is something that focuses on one main thing. Typically, a pure is an account that focuses on certain skills or is focused on pking. Like, you could call a 99 def, 99 hp player a def pure, for having those two skills @ 99.

So many noobs with failed accs call their pker account as 'pure', but pures are accs with no more than 1 def.

I'm glad/ In all honesty, people just started their failed pkers the equivalent level in pure, ("oh shit, I lvled my defense to 5 on accident! Hmmm.... I'll call him a 5 defence pure!") and it just continued from there. Rather than saying, "Selling my failed 11 defense pure" people say selling black pure. For the vets of RS who have been around for a while, I assume everytime they see something silly like this, they still have a slight chuckle at the idiocy of it as I do.

If these definitions are what everyone should believe, anything over 1 defence "Pures" should be moved from Pures and Skillers to Other Accounts.

1 defence is the only true pure; anything else is just somebody trying to embellish their stats.
Correct. But I think the mods are not going to argue over the definition of the word, so let it go.

1-13: Iron-Black
Middle
20-25: Initiate-Infinity
