Personally, I know Obama is shit. He's a puppet just like the other presidents, I dont think we've had a "real" president since JFK. For some reason I can not at all remember the name of the group, but it's the group that has all the conspiracies about them that include the Rockefeller family and the other richest families of the world. Obama was caught on tape at one of their meetings. So to me, this just proves hes as much of a puppet as the rest of our recent presidents.

He also lies about supporting the poor. He only cares about wall street, but I feel this has to do with the group I mentioned above. However, I do feel that he was the better of 2 evils in the past election.

I'm honestly done with the rest of the argument as I do not wish to have a lengthy argument about de-regulation and the horrors in the past that it led to, however this is sickening. If you can't provide evidence to your claims it is CONJECTURE.

Just because you THINK it's likely does not in any form make it the truth.

I'm not in the US so I don't really have much of an opinion, but it seems that Sythe should have a section dedicated to intellectual discussion for threads like this.

O, it's quite a straightforward argument. Those that favour coercive regulation always lose.

I posit that by providing unemployment benefits, you give incentive for people not to work. You either accept this premise, or you do not. Which one is it?

If you do not accept this premise, then do a simple google search:

    http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052702303828304575180243952375172.html
    http://www.jstor.org/pss/2938349

    http://www.fahcsia.gov.au/sites/default/files/documents/06_2012/no.4.pdf

There you go, how many more do you want? This incentive not to work leads to a poverty trap, and intergenerational poverty.

All of what I said is merely an expansion of the consequences of this.

Ummm, what? The president is targeting large corporations, trying to increase their taxes and what not. So now, they'll move off-shore, out of country so they won't have to deal with all the increased spending. His decisions are what started it all? So yeah, the president pretty much fucked over our nation. It's pretty obvious where the moneys going too, making people more dependent on government funding, instead of offering ways for people to become more independent. He thinks giving people free shit is somehow going to save the nation and economy.

The good old Scandinavian model. This is an interesting read if you'd like: http://www.cato.org/sites/cato.org/files/pubs/pdf/pa-603.pdf

Put simply, the Nordic model isn't as successful as many people think.

OP, congress has more power than the president to control the effects of most of the things you've listed. Why put so much blame on the president? He's a puppet. If you had Romney voted in, he would increase military spending greatly, and do what his upper power tells him to do.

This effect you are talking about is called Globalization and has been happening actively since the 60s and is pretty much a result of markets where labor can be sought cheaper. Nixon opened up trade with China and companies began to realize they could institute education programs for workers and then pay them little to nothing to work for them - thus having both skilled and cheap labor in mass quantities. The US is the oddest country in the world when you look at it. Everything from health and well being to education has become a commodity open for trading, so that even the basics of human necessity are up for trade here. Even our government is for sale, and they're openly traded by corporate lobbyists leading to politicians no longer wanting what is best for the people but wanting what is best for their donators and that is why shit doesn't get done. The loyalty of career politicians is to mega-corporations.

Obama won because we have selfish idiots in America. The person who gives more benefits to hispanics and gives the most loans to college students will win and thats exactly what he did.

They have got to be just plain stupid or have no love for their country at all. Remember, many supported hitler too.. no one can explain it. Obama is the modern day of Hitler.. Only difference is that he's black and even sneakier!

Yeah, but you just took the typical "pro-Obama" approach.

^ I agree with this. "Better of the 2 evils". I supported Obama over Romney because of the promises of "college funding". I don't think he does much, all of the recent presidents have lied to the American people. But I do believe he gives a good image of America to other countries. Funny, has a not so serious attitude, and closer to the youth of today.

His promised just inflate the prices for everyone else due to creating an artificial demand.

Not so serious attitude is bad we need a leader not a child.
