How are people buying gold?

When the banning for RWT started I stopped buying gp, and I thought most others would too. But botting is booming, gp is being traded at seemingly higher levels than ever - so who's buying the gp?

It can't all just be first time buyers who cop the ban, there must be methods people are using?

I've heard of using main accounts to trade being one of the safest methods, but how would you do this with a major gold seller? Surely their 'main' would be trading all sorts of other people too and be flagged.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated

 

Not sure who is still getting banned and how. I just do normal trades like the good ol’ days and have never gotten banned. I’ve heard of some people doing death matches with the cash stack. Or drop trades.

 

I honestly believe many players are buying gp as normal. You have others who are buying items and using alternative methods of trading like death-matching, which is a popular alternative to staking. From a business standpoint, it isn’t favorable for them to ban the majority of players who RWT. Gold is at its cheapest, which means more people are inclined to buy.

 

The evidence is pretty clear. The bots are still doing their thing and haven't changed their behavior at all, which means the long standing business model prevails. People have to be buying it, or they wouldn't be botting still. Maybe the players are being banned, we can't know... but they're definitely buying.

 

Has anyone heard of someone pulling off multiple temp bans followed by the permaban for buying gold?

 

I've only gotten one 3 day ban but they said next offense is still a temp

 

The "mass buyer bans" was a PR stunt. From experience, less than 1 in 1000 trades gets a temp ban. Most of them as collateral damage when a large reseller network gets penalized.

Stop buying on accounts that have received a temp penalty. Switch it up, use a different one and stay safe.

 

This is also why it's a good idea to ask your seller if they regularly cycle out seller accounts

 

I use Alts to trade with , alot of mules etc.

In short use high combat level accounts, buy osrs items instead of osrs gold, trade in p2p worlds, trade of reliable vendor (that doesn't use level 3 accounts and purchases gold of real-players instead of botters/goldfarmers).
