Bet 600m on something against me

Post on this thread if you accept the terms and conditions. Any post counts as an agreement. If you ask what your 600m wager will payout, I will assume you already know and not answer you.

It is important you agree to the terms I haven't specified so that I can specify them later after you post asking about them (aka accepting the bet).

Let it be known I can truthfully say I would not have made him pay had I "won". I was essentially risking money to win absolutely nothing, without even knowing it.

I would ordinarily side with you here but his thread did say "post if you accept". You could have clarified the terms through pm without posting at all.

Theres a difference between "post on the thread that you accept"

And "if you post, you accept" (example of what would insinuate verification) or what video has said "post if you accept" (which is not what Hamouze wrote.)

It's difficult, but theres a fair line of understanding. If you have to verify the bet (not entirely sure on rules) then there wasn't really verification.

To me "post... that you accept" would mean Anet had to write that he accepted. Saying I'm down isn't accepting imo, because he wanted further clarification.

That's what it looks like to me, and that's exactly what happened. He did not write "post if you accept" and somehow took my FIVE WORD post and twisted it into some sort of agreement and acceptance. I'm glad there are a few people like @Sonia and @kmjt who understand I have no obligation to pay, regardless of the amount.

Of course I'm butthurt, it's not about the 6m, it's about the precedent that is now being set. Had this been 600m, I still would be paying for a bet I never knew I accepted.

I don't think I'm making myself look like an idiot at all. Even if I am, I don't really care what people think of me, especially when I'm right.

The worst part is you are actually changing your OP to gain favor among others. It is obvious the bet wasn't verified and the terms weren't agreed on.

I'm honestly considering making a real post trying to get my money back. It's not the value of it that matters, it's the fact that I don't owe it. I shouldn't owe it.

Actually upon a second reading I have to agree with OP here. It says post that you accept, not if you accept. Furthermore, it was never stated what the payout would be, if it was a 1:1 bet, or 2:1 or 1:2 or what. Can't agree that simply posting was somehow automatically entering into a wager with an undetermined payout

 

It also sets a rather poor precedent if we allow this to become standard practice for wager bets, all wagers should be well defined and agreed to by both parties clearly, not ill-stated "post that you agree" auto-accepted wager nonsense

This is exactly what I am saying. I mentioned multiple times in the original thread that we never agreed on odds. I mentioned the stickied thread I was monitoring and how the rules applied there.

Had you posted around the beginning of the game saying the terms were not clear or you didn't feel the bet was valid, the ball would've been in your court. Ahah... my puns... they kill me...
