I'll start this out with a little bit of history about myself. Also, I know my typing grammar and punctuation isn't the best but when it comes to actual "paper work" I do it much differently so no comments on tht plz.

I never liked school. The other kids thought i was scary and weird. I never got picked on, I tended to do the bullying but I tried to be nicer to the kids that were already bullied, I was pretty nice to the nerds and other "weird" kids. But your typical bullies; football players, popular kids, rich kids, etc were the ones I was mean to. My point here is mainly stating I didn't quit school because I was bullied. I just didn't like sitting at a desk all day doing nothing. I wanted to work! I wanted to do manual labor!

I got kicked out of my normal public school for reasons I won't mention here, but I was sent to the "alternative" school. In normal school I was an A student. In the alternative school they were "teaching" me shit I learned in the 6th fuckin grade (I was in the 9th grade at this point) so theres really no need to say it, but I will. I was an A student at this school too.

I was bored to death. I wanted to work and I wasn't learning shit at school. So I quit going. I had straight A's but failed the 9th grade because my attendance was 32% and I needed 95% or more to pass. So I told em they could go fuck themselves and I never went back.

Sadly, this was slightly over 3 years ago and I still havn't found a job!! So I decided to get my GED! But after 3 years of doing nothing but smoking pot, watching TV, getting drunk and playing video games, I feel I probably need to study a little bit. I've never actually studied for anything, I always just knew the answers from reading over shit in our textbooks and stuff that we learned in class. So this is literally a first for me.

    What I need to know:

    1. What portions of math are in the GED test? I know there will basic adding, basic subtracting, basic multiplying, basic division, fractions, percentages, geometry & algebra. All of that is easy, I don't need to study for it. What should I brush up on in math to make sure I can pass?

    2. What portions of history will be in the GED test? I live in the USA if that changes anything. Honestly I cant remember the dates of any wars or special events in history. I couldn't even name any wars except the war with the british, the 2 world wars, the civil war, the spanish/american war and the vietnam war. If this is all the wars that america has been in, I guess all I need to do is learn the dates they started/ended but if there were other wars and they are covered in the GED test, plz let me know! So if anyone can give me an idea of what will be covered in the history part of the GED it would help ALOT.

    3. What portions of science is covered in the GED test? I do not at all use science in my day to day life, infact I havn't done anything scientific since I left school, so I dont really remember anything about science. I wouldn't even know what to look up to start.

    4. Is biology in the GED test at all? I never learned biology as it was a 11th grade and 12th grade only subject in my school, so if this is covered in its own area, or as part of the science area of the GED testing plz let me know wtf I need to learn.

    5. Anything else that is known to cause most people problems that I should make sure I know?

I just took my test and got my diploma a few months back so i deffo can help you out with this.

Feel free to add my MSN: [email protected] or PM me with anything you would like to ask :)

Just a little info before you add, the math section is only 1/5 of the whole test.

    Sections:
    Language Arts, Writing
    Social Studies
    Science
    Language Arts, Reading
    Mathematics

The Writing section is just correcting errors within a sentence like knowing where to place a comma etc. Then you will have to write a 5 paragraph essay on whatever topic that they give you.

The Reading part, is well...you read, then answer questions about the story.

the Social studies and science parts are 100% reading comprehension so you really have to know NOTHING about science or social studies, just as long as you can understand what you are reading.

The mathematics section was very simple, adding, subtracting, multiplying, plotting graphs, understanding graphs, long division..etc.

Just to let you know i did 4 years of highschool, and did not pass a SINGLE math class, and on my GED i scored the highest on math than any other section. So if you have any worries about that i would say you will do fine in the math as long as you know how to use a calculator and can do basic math.

Like i stated above if you need any further help, feel free to contact me.

Math isn't what bothers me, I use math daily for all sorts of things its the science and history that worry me. Also is there turning %'s into fractions and vice versa? I know I can do it, I just dont remember how to figure it out so I just need a quick look through at a study sheet and be able to ace the math part.

That was my biggest worry going into the test as well but seriously it's ALL reading comprehension so as long as you are able to read a paragraph and get the important info out of it to answer the question you will be ready for those sections.

You really wouldn't even need to live in the US to be able to pass the Social Studies portion of the test honestly.
