Currently we are accepting 75% of the applied users into UE. I personally think the level of intelligence of the members we are allowing in has shown to be sub-par, no offense. The guides are a bit lax is what i'm trying to say. I believe we should be increasing the level expectations per guide. Also, if there should be a 2-3 guides rule per applicant, someone could easily construct a great guide in 2 days, but they might only educated on one topic, which we would be oblivious to. It's much harder to create 2-3 excellent guides on a large array of topics. If we are going to be re-installing the voting process into play, why don't we create the old private forum? instead of doing it directly in front of their faces, leaving them to flame whoever criticizes their faults. In the most recent application which was accepted this was shown. It's a bomb waiting to explode, creating more warnings and infractions, not to mention more work for the 2 HUE's which until 3 days ago, I hadn't even realized we had gained a new HUE. I don't know if i'm the only member that notices this, but areas are lacking, although our 2 HUE's are doing excellent jobs.

Brandeis/Mike/Brady, for new I believe we're trying to achieve some User Education member. As pen said before, he's going to go easy, until we have enough user education members to start voting with. Now, since we have the User Education private forum for casting votes, it's a bit far - the user education team as a whole can decide whether to accept them into the team or not. Basically, intelligence isn't really based on a guide, anyone can write a guide about 1 + 1; as long if the work ethic is excellent.

Yes, I do agree for the guide limit. I know it's quality but not quanity, but it's just too easy to become a user educator. But, for now I think it's alright. IMO, I think RuneScape guides should be automatically rejected - every runescape guide has been posted at least 50 + times.

Brandeis, if you hadn't noticed, there is a private forum strictly for voting.. Maybe you haven't been on in awhile :P? Also, watch out for guide rippers; for instance, there are many people who rip guides, and it's too much to keep up with.

Yes, macroman is a great active member. He's a good HUE, and I think he's doing excellent in the position he is in. Pen made him HUE, because he was inactive, and couldn't do it alone.

What's the point of having an education team in which you are going to let in sub-par members? That would make this almost pointless, we should focus on gaining the best members, and once we have gained enough of those we could vote. It's somewhat an oxymoron to let in a lower level of member rather than reject the semi-educated. I think that we should keep the level of member which we allow in at a constant and not make it easy at first then hard.

My young dear Brandeis, the user education team isn't all about intelligence. It's about trying your best, and achieving the goal to become smarter. The reason Sythe/Unknown started this is to boost the intelligence of a random sythe user.. Quote from Sythe: Get educated or get out! The point of being on the user education team is writing guides, and helping other users with problems. Intelligence isn't defined by guides.

You contradict your own statements, my friend. The team is the group which is to be educating the general public. The team should be the people of high intelligence level, educating the general public. Who wants to read a guide that a UE wrote about programming, when, in fact, that UE member knows very little about programming. We write guides and help with problems, but if our intelligence level is low, our information and knowledge which we put forth could be wrong or ill-informed. Look, i'm not saying there are dumb people, it's just that I would expect a high intelligence level from the UE team, thats all and the the people are decently intelligent, but are they well rounded?

Why not? Who wouldn't want to read a basic guide about programming? I would, I don't know SHIT about programming, so it can be useful to me, and other Sythe members. The point of the User Education team is to educate random sythe users, and ourselves.

But a programming guide created by someone who knows next to nothing on the topic would ill-inform members. But I only used programming as an example. I'm just saying we want well rounded, highly educated members, who know about different topics and can offer a large array of substantial information.

You both are completely whack and losing touch with reality?

Mike: How do you expect to get users who are intelligent to join User Education, when the majority of Users who have any sense of intelligence want nothing to do with User Education? The system is flawed to the point where UE is purely a mockery, and an attempt for random people to gain some notice in the forums. I personally look at User Education as a place to occupy my spare time with writing guides, ideas, or suggestions to make the place better. I don't expect them to work, nor do I even expect them to be accepted, they are merely means for me to better myself.

What you get out of user education is what you put into it, and if these low level idiots who are being accepted (Offense is intended) don't use the opportunity given them at such an early time to become intelligent, then they do not belong.

Tarik: The actual quote is "Get educated, or get LOST". It was not thought up by Richard, but, if I remember correctly, Andrew. Sythe was a mockery, and is still a mockery of stupidity. The amount of members is only surpassed by the lack of knowledge. User Education is a place for the users to come and learn if they want to go anywhere, whether they do so through joining, or they do so through reading. Most importantly, the users who join learn more because they are forced to write meaningful, intellectual, and useful guides.

This means they must go out and do research just to keep their position, which is a great way for learning. We are not here to just educate the people of Sythe, we are here to learn ourselves. True, you should have at least some knowledge before you come to User Education, but your determination to gain more knowledge is what is sought.

To have developed a great User Education team, not from getting intellectual members to apply, but from training those we already have to be more diverse in their knowledge is our goal. We WANT people to look up to us, and to do that, we must teach them what we know, and we must learn from them.

The geniuses of the 21st century are not the people who know everything, but the people who are willing to learn, unlearn, and relearn. So don't be so quick to badger those who are writing dumb guides to get in, badger those who are not taking advantage of the opportunity to better themselves, and learn from experience.

They come to us as bums, stealing and sleeping on the streets, we turn them into lords, who are stolen from, and whose streets are plagued with the sleeping bums.

Thread solved :).

For a start, 'expections' isn't even a word. I'm not sure whether it was supposed to be 'inspections' or 'expectations,' or an inconspicuous blend, but it really isn't the best mistake to be making, especially as your very second sentence is disparaging people's intelligence.

However, I must admit that I agree. Left, right and center I see people swarming around with User Educator status, and quite frankly, I haven't seen any of them before. Granted, this does not suggest that their guides are bad, but it does suggest that they have been let through the application process too quickly (or completed it too quickly), otherwise I would have noticed the person. An example of this could have been that dark_nite person (who is now laughably banned.)

Defiant as you may well be, I think the two exhibitions you've made about Head User Educators were quite enough to show us that there's some aspect of envy and or desire going on within you! I do not feel there is an issue with the Head User Educators. Quite frankly, I thought Pen was coping delightfully on his own, but if he wants help, he can ''call in the cavalry.'' I feel the actual issue is maintaining the quality of incoming guides, and setting firmer boundaries on what is and isn't accepted.

Expectations....sorry, 2 or 3 sentences in it's spelled "expectations". There's no envy here, I have been asked on several occasions if I wanted the position, quite frankly, I don't care, i'm going to continue to write great guides. I was commending the HUE's on their job, not knocking them or showing any signs of envy. The only thing i'm saying is judging should be a bit more strict.

I agree, some of these people are desperately trying way to hard to get in there not interested in educating users they just want to get in. Most people think the UE section is a joke. Is there a certain amount of people Pen wants? If we have some sub-par people who will be one to say they are sub-par and kick them off?

Increasing the standards for acceptance would be great. Too many people have got in when they didn't deserve it. Applications should not take a few hours to make.

Stop being nice to people and be realistic. The last 2 User Educations were nothing but intelligent, friendly users (with an exception or two). Now these no-name idiots have a chance of getting in because of the lower standards.

Personally, I think it should be harder and take more time.
As to an official MM, UE is much much easier to get accepted.

UE shouldn't be about the well rounded intellegent people, it should be about someone who can teach another what THEY know.
A UE should still be able to learn more and more, thus wanting to learn more and more.

I mean if someone wrote a guide on how to ride a bike, I am sure someone would LOVE to read it. Not everyone needs to know how to ride a bike, but I gurantee alot of sythe members have no clue on how to ride a bike.
Therefore if they learned how to ride a bike from the guide, it would be a GREAT guide. Am I right or wrong on that accusation?

Thats my 2 cents
