Regarding the GUIDE FORUM

Regarding the GUIDE FORUM
I can't find anyone in their right mind who would wan't to pay for a guide verification. Isn't it enough payment that they know the guide method?
I agree with the other parts, however, I'm going to have to shoot down the payment part.

There won't be a fee to get you're guide verified.

I don't care if mods and trusted verifiers are using the guides to their own benefit. If they're spending their own time to verify it, then they have the right to use the guide.

Regarding the GUIDE FORUM
Mods can demand verification for any guide that is sold. Mods can use any guide they verify for free. There's obviously a problem with this, regardless of whether it's real or only perceived: you're essentially forcing members to give benefits to staff. (Although, I'm glad to see 10m+/hr guides no longer require verification automatically).

Moving on, selfish motivations are a great quality to look for in someone who you expect members to trust. Mods have been known to leak even the trivial information from the lower lounge; what makes you think the verifiers can be trusted not to leak dupe glitches and such? When the seller wants $100 for one copy, and the mod got it free, the mod's going to be the one asked first, either for a discounted sale or as a friend. Thus, they're being trusted on a similar level as OMM's (for a leaked method can cost the seller plenty), and yet they go through none of the process.

You basically said it all. Unfortunately it's either that or people put their trust in the seller and buy it without verification. There always has to be a negative and the community would rather mods get these benefits so that they aren't buying a guide they aren't sure exists.

Personally I hate the concept of having to get shit verified but then you realise, regardless of how many people you sell it to, it only takes one and then the method is leaked - it's always just a matter of time.

There is a sticky in the guide section. ^

Anyways I'd like to see it divided into verified and unverified.

Or put the verified section up front.

Quite frankly, you're right. You can't trust us to leak the guides. Let me speak for myself and not the others. I didn't go through any rigorous application, yes. But I would never leak a guide as I know it ruins the business of someone else.

Why would I do that? Out of spite? That he makes more money than me? I'd do that, just to ruin the reputation I'd built over a year on this site? Pen made it EXTREMELY clear that if I leaked ONE guide, I'd be permanently banned.

To me, my Sythe account is worth a lot more than money or some stupid guide. I would never dream of putting it in jeopardy by leaking some dumb guide.

People will probably turn to staff to approve suspicious guides no matter what the official system is. As I stated above, I think the ideal system (as far as what this site is capable of providing) is simply having guide sellers find a mod or trusted user and get them to vouch for it. It may not seem very different from verification (and it's not), but there is one very significant difference: it's informal and unofficial, and thus the staff as a whole is not responsible for it. It's also a more relaxed system, more closely mirroring the choice the site offers it's members to choose whether to use an MM, and if so, whether to use an official or unofficial.

Again, I am not commenting on anyone in particular. But, the system has to be able to endure beyond the current lineup, and I'm simply pointing out the flaws in the assumption that it can.

Although I've already pointed out that even staff verifiers are by no means perfect, the idea of using non-staff is even more problematic. The assumption is that anyone not on staff is not on there for a reason, and thus giving them a larger responsibility seems careless, given the aforementioned potential for abuse. All there is to judge is a vote, and that's not really enough to go by: and the staff already know this. Hence why sectionals have to work their way up to global to get more permissions.

This topic has gone way off course.

The objective was simple and only needed a yes or no.
