Getting Around PP Chargebacks

Hello everyone, I'm just wondering what the best way is to not have someone do a chargeback on me. Is there any method that makes it so they can't do it? Sorry if this question seems noobish, but I don't usually do PayPal.

 

Nothing will make you fully secure against chargebacks. However, there are some simple ways to avoid them as a new trader:

1) Trade only with reputable people (100+ vouches for trades over $5)
2) Limit the amount of money you trade with each person. Instead of selling one person 2 Billion GP, sell 5 different people 400M GP.

If you want 99.9% safety with Paypal, only sell gold to the ~top 10 GP traders on Sythe.

 

To answer your question, no, you cannot prevent chargebacks. Sending as a gift, sending messages attached to the payment, etc. do not help. Take R2P's advice - The only way to prevent a chargeback is to trade with people for whom charging back isn't worth it, i.e. major sellers.

 

I think selling on playerauctions do do somewhat prevent chargebacks, but then again the fees are so goddam expensive.

 

Don't listen to what r2p is telling you, you'll make no money if you sell to top gold sellers.

The best way to do this is simply doing one thing : Asking for ID. If you ask the user to hold the ID up to the screen with the paypal transaction, then this will avoid any unauthorised transaction being against you.

To avoid the user to chargeback by saying he did not receive his goods, you simply show them the screenshot of the ID, skype logs and trade logs of virtual goods and the case will then be in your favour as he no longer has buyer protection.

 

You think this works 100% of the time? If it did, then no gold shop would ever have any loss since they all do this. Paypal doesn't allow the sale of virtual goods, so it's very difficult to prove anything was delivered when they don't care.

 

Or you could always use MM's so that you're secure that no chargebacks will be done to you directly.

 

There's no middlemen who would ever secure you from a charge back other than services like PlayerAuctions. If a middleman holds Paypal in escrow for you, they're either incredibly ignorant or are going to scam you.

 

Nailed it on the head. By asking for the ID, you can assure that the user owns his/her paypal account and will not chargeback as an "Unauthorized transaction"

Also, when asking for the ID, make sure that they send you it via e-mail from the same email as their paypal address.

 

Try to check the peoples join date/vouches before trading with them. I use sell gold using a different website and never had any problems being chargedback upon. If the deal is too good to be true, it's false (lol). Don't sell to gold sellers because they pay very low and sell for high. (basically making profit of you).

 

It's impossible to prevent a chargeback. You have to trust the seller.

 

Only way would be to ship them a package and record the delivery but that's not efficient nor would it prevent chargebacks 100% of the time.

 

You can never run away from chargebacks when it comes to Virtual Trading. That is always a slight chance of getting chargebacked no matter what.

It all comes down to trust.


PlayerAuctions is an alternative but the fees are a bit expensive but that will definitely ensure your money is safe.

Another way is using Western Union, fees are big too but usually buyers pay them. This way, when the money is sent already, you can't retrieve it. A sent transaction is considered sent and is not retrievable.

It was problem to me, when one person send me usd (gift), and after 10 minutes he made a dispute. I can say, there is no way, to know what others will do. Best trading method is to sell your item for eoc gold or just use middleman which will make your trade reliable. After that you sell your gold to highly trusted gold buyers and thats all.

 

MIDDLEMAN DOES NOT HELP WITH MAKING YOU HAVE NO CHARGEBACKS. Get that into your minds you ignorant fools.
95% of the time you cannot prevent a chargeback/win with PayPal. If you provide proof that it was a virtual good trade, it'll make PayPal's job even easier at returning the funds to the sender.

Make sure to trade with trusted people to limit all chargebacks, although you might want to give paypal a call just in case you are chargedback. Most of the time if you make a good case with them on the phone they will help you out.
